FutureGM
I did not include Daniel Craig and "Casino Royale" as choices, since the movie won't be released until November of 2006. My choices are GoldenEye for my favorite movie, and Pierce Brosnan for my favorite Bond. I thought he was a good mix of Connery and Moore. EndLine
I went on a 007 craze back when I was in 6th grade. I ended up watching every single James Bond movie ever made and read a couple books as well. Heck I even have James Bond memerobilia(sp??) I also own every James Bond movie on VHS. IMO, the overwhelming answer for best James Bond actor will and always will be Sean Connery. However, I grew up watching Pierce Brosnan so he is my favorite. Best Movie? I can't choose!!! Goldfinger, The Spy Who Loved Me, Golden Eye are all up there!!!
Buckeye
Casino Royale was a television movie first, anyways. And James Bond was a CIA agent instead (obviously it was made in America). That being said, it's hard to NOT pick Connery. It's hard for ANYONE to pick Moore (his movies were the most awful). And while Brosnan is good, his movies aren't. Too much action, not enough spying and/or plot. I'll go with Connery and as for the movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service is my personal fave with Dr. No, Goldfinger and From Russia With Love vying for second place. EndLine
I disagree. Moore movies were not awful. They just had little spying/detective stuff(to this degree i agree with you). But his movies were very entertaining and brought the best villains to the 007 series(Jaws, May Day, Baron Samedi, Scaramanga, just to name a few). Not to mention '70s Bond Girls who were incredibly hot. Especially the girl in For Your Eyes Only. And who can forget Dr.Goodhead :mischief
Passion
Bond: Connery. Had the overall best Bond career and he was the smoothest and most bad ass of all of the Bonds. Movie: I like Dr. No, From Russia With Love, and Goldeneye equally. Bond Girl: Honey Ryder

And I might, but you're right, the villains were awesome in Moore's era. It's just the movies themselves that are bad (IMO). I'll tell you why I think so in each case: Live and Let Die Just awful story where Bond tries to stop a black cult from shipping heroin. It's like a bad New York cop show in some respects and the black actors are totally caricatured as hell. The main chase scene was a boat chase and you have that awful Southern Cop... The Man With the Golden Gun The worst Bond movie, and yet: my favorite villain (had so much potential). You have this cool island where the Man With the Golden Gun (Scaramanga) hunts people down and kills them (all sounds cool, right?). Then you have a lame midget giving Bond the run-around, you have them putting plane wings on a car and it actually flying and the dumbest Bond girl ever (I mean, REALLY annoyingly dumb). The Spy Who Loved Me Moonraker Awful space movie. I just don't want Bond going to outer space in my spy movies. I hated the main villain, the plot was cheesy and what was the deal with those Star Wars laser fights? For Your Eyes Only Octopussy A View To A Kill This is the best of the Moore movies. But he definitely shows his age and he's getting with this 20 year old girl and it's... Kind of weird. That being said, it's probably got the best story of the Moore Bond movies and has Christopher Walken. Heh. I'm drawing blanks on three of them. I'd dig out the VHS tapes of them, but I'm darn lazy. I don't know, though, this is just my opinion. Moore's era was definitely the cheesiest in my mind. I just didn't dig it as much as the original stuff where actual spying took place and Bond didn't rely on gadgets as much as he relied on his own wits. Passion
The Spy Who Loved Me kicks ass imo. Jaws is one of my favorite baddies.
EndLine
I understand where you're coming fromBuckeye(believe me I do). The Bond series is one of those topics that I wouldn't mind debating for hours.
FutureGM
I feel bad for Moore. Personally, I thought the movies he played Bond in had the worst plots of just about any of the others.
EndLine
I thought Brosnan movies were the ones with the worst plots... It felt like every movie had to do with "OMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGG WE ARE ALLL GOING TO DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS THE END OF EARTH AS WE KNOW IT"

I do think that "Tomorrow Never Dies" had the worst plot of any of them. A newspaper mogul causing a war between England and China? Huh??? Who wrote that garbage? Off the top of my head there has only been 3 out of 16 movies prior Brosnan had a major plot revolving the end of earth. 4/4 Brosnan movies had to do with this subject. I'm not bashing his movies in any way. As I stated earlier, he is my favorite Bond, it's not his fault the writting was terrible(Golden Eye excluded). Buckeye
Both are equally lame. The 70's had great villains and bad plots, while the new ones are trying hard to create new "badass" villains and failing miserably.

Beinfest4Prez
Goldeneye is my favorite Bond movie. All of the other Bond movies with Brosnan sucked as movies and did no justice to Brosnan. Though, Denise Richards was pretty hot in The World is Not Enough. The 70s movies had the greatest baddies ever. Even in Live and Let Die, with Jaws and the Black Mobsters. The Mobsters I thought were pretty kick ass. Sean Connery will always be the best Bond. He personifies smooth, slick, and spy.
