Tonight's events at Pro Player Stadium were dispicable, no doubt about it. Hector Almonte nailed Lowell in a way to do most damage with the least amount of danger. What happens to him in the coming days will show the quality of the Expos organization and MLB.

But I do not want my team beaning ANY Expos tomorrow or for the rest of the season on purpose. Even so called "accidents" will not be accepted by me. I hold this team to high standards, no game is worth that much where another human being has to be hurt intentionally and put his career and personal health in jeopardy. If the Expos want to win so bad, then let them have it. Let them be beat by the Marlins without Lowell.

This year Mike has gone through alot. His second All-Star game, a scare with cancer, the excitement of a playoff race. Well it seems Mikey is done and I wish him well and we all pray for his recovery. Thank you Mr. Lowell for all the plays you have made. Thank you Mr. Lowell for all the hits you got. Thank you Mr. Lowell for all the homers you hit. Thank you Mr. Lowell for all the errors you made. Thank you Mr. Lowell for all the for all the games you played. Thank you Mr. Lowell for all the good you did South Florida. Thank you Mr. Lowell for playing for my team.

this is baseball, if they feel it was on purpose than they have to retaliate. if not than they'll be letting teams know "Bean our players, we're not going to do anything"

i didn't see what happened to Lowell, only heard about half an hour ago from a fellow Philly fan - did it actually look like Almonte was trying to bean Lowell?

Was there anything in the past that would cause this to happen? Perhaps Lowell accidentally showing up the Expos or something??

Marlins player retaliates -> Marlins player gets supended. It won't be worth it, we need all the help we can get.

Almonte has no control.

He threw irregularly it seemed and hit Lowell in the wrist with a 96 MPH fastball. It was no accident and Lowell didn't show anyone up. He was on the floor with pain within milliseconds upon impact. The guy fracture his fourth metatarple.

That pitch got away thats how baseball is. You got to pay the price....Im sure he didnt do it on purpose but i hope none of our pitchers defend Lowell by beaning one of their players either.

Very heartfilled post...This has been quite a season for Lowell. However I do think that the Marlins will take action and hit a player. But if not(like I said before.) then this club will show some great character and we will make Almonte(and possibly the Expos.) look horrible.(Sadly nothing can be done about what he did except getting even).I'm very torn between what we should do with the retaliation situation.

Maybe cause im a positive person. :thumbup

u mean optimistic :D

hey, you guys have a world series trophy in Florida from a few years ago, the Phils have something like 2 winning seasons in their last 14....maybe thats my cause for being pessimistic

or perhaps i don't want to go out on a limb and guarantee the Phils spot in the playoffs, writing checks the Phils play can't cash

Leave it to Florida and Philly...they go into a DISASTROUS slump (and still lead the WC) and then they both win 2 in a row...exceptionally odd.

Don't retaliate for 2 reasons.

Moral reason: You are better than them, show it on the field professionally, not on the field personally.

Logistical reason: MLB will come down hard on the Marlins for retaliation. They always do, no matter what.

Almonte has no control.

plain and simple

Thank you, Ramp

I say that and I'm called a bad person

:D

I doubt Lowell will take the full four weeks to get back, we're talking about a guy who beat cancer twice.

Marlins player retaliates -> Marlins player gets supended. It won't be worth it, we need all the help we can get.

Cape, none of our player's will be suspened.

But I have come to the realization that we shouldn't retaliate...I was angry, now that I have become calm I see what is right. Hitting Guerrero,we will be no different then the Expos.

The man pitched a perfect inning last night and pitched well tonight before the Lowell beaning. You have no claim. I saw Almonte with the Marlins and he pitched with control, the man has control, he beaned him.

Too bad Almanza is on the DL. If we want someone to bean someone else, Almanza would be the no-brainer choice for me to bring in :p

Seriously though, this is not good news. Haven't seen it yet (will try to catch SC- I assume they'll show it), so I can't really say if I think it was purposeful or not. Andy Fox, Mike Mordecai, Jason Wood, Chris Donnels and Miguel Cabrera I suppose are the candidates to fill in. This couldn't have happened at a worse time.

Ha! If we do retaliate with a beaning, which I doubt that McKeon will let it happen, (see Boston) we shall see what MLB does to us. It won't be pretty, and who is there to stop the Expos from starting a brawl?

the moral reason really doesnt mean s*** to me. im not saying try to kill anyone or end anyone's season, im talking about a nice hard fastball to the a** or the ankle (make him eat dirt).

the logistical reason i can understand

but only if they feel it was on purpose. we can dispute all we want whether it was, but they have a better idea.

This couldn't have happened at a worse time.

Yea, especially since the Phillies are getting hot...I think our ERA fell to just a bit over 6 on our 12 game roadtrip so far.... :banghead

This isn't time to joke about Almanza...To set this straight NONE OF OUR PITCHERS WILL BE SUSPENED FOR HITTING AN EXPOS BATTER. A warning will be issued.

But like I said I have come to the realization of non-retaliation.

Why would he bean him? Lowell has been in the biggest slump of the year....he did not do that on purpose.

*gives Standing O*

Without a doubt the best post I've read from you, I've been saying this all night their is just no reason to hit Lowell in that situation.
