September 1, 200322 yr Yes, I know, another Conine thread. But, I just wanted to say, regardless of what you think of the trade, welcome home Mr. Marlin. Not thinking about stats or prospects or anything, it'll be great seeing him in a Marlins uniform again. His deal has been reworked by the Marlins through the 2005 season, so he is now 1 of 2 players signed past this season. Hopefully, he will now retire as a Marlin. I wonder if he'll be able to get his number 19 back from Lowell. That could be interesting.

Man I can't wait for his first AB. Let's give him a standing O tomorrow
September 1, 200322 yr I am thrilled to have Conine back with the Marlins. He is a veteran who has World Series experience and is a good contact hitter. I really like the moves that Beinfest makes. In a quiet way he gets things done the right way. GO MARLINS!
September 1, 200322 yr I'm looking forward to the Standing O I'm sure he will receive. I like this deal not just for this season but for the next couple of years. In some ways, it feels like the Darren Daulton deal. Conine will retire a Marlin. And he will contribute in many ways.
September 1, 200322 yr Whats gonna happen with conine Once Lowell comes back? I mean you have will have Lowell at 3B. Cabs at LF. DLee at 1B....
September 1, 200322 yr Whats gonna happen with conine Once Lowell comes back? I mean you have will have Lowell at 3B. Cabs at LF. DLee at 1B.... Assuming Lowell comes back in time and ready, you have Conine on the bench, capable of playing at least two positions and pinch-hitting. What's wrong with that?
September 1, 200322 yr Obviously this trade (and the restructure thru 2005) means Lee is likely to go this offseason... I dont know why alot of people are not likeing the trade... I mean we still have arms down on the Farm Like Trevor Hutchinson, Jeff Allison, Nic Ungs, and some of the guys in A-Ball and lower like Lensing Atleast we didnt deal Stokes or Hermida :plain
September 1, 200322 yr It's going to be great to see Jeff back. Brings back very good memories, and Jeff is one of the truely nice guys in the league. When I went to spring training games, every game he was the one signing the most autographs and interacting with the fans.

September 1, 200322 yr Conine's going to be a great asset on the bench if we get to the playoffs. He can play 1b, 3b, or LF, and would be a great pinch-hitter. He might even start if he plays way better than Cabs. Cabs is in a semi-slump lately.
September 1, 200322 yr Yea he can be a great bench player when lowell comes back. He can swap positions to give someone a break or can come in key situations to pinch hit. Also Harris can do the same.....this was just a great aquasition.
September 1, 200322 yr I wonder if he'll be in the line-up tonight. Standing ovation MUST go to Jeff.
