January 18, 200620 yr Mike, we will never stop trying. I plan to meet with Hialeah officials in the near future. Thank you for your e-mail, and I apologize for the delay in responding. Regards, David Samson

January 18, 200620 yr Well, I did hear from my mom that she heard on the radio this morning that Julio Robaina was contacted on the possibility of the race track site being used for a stadium. Who knows? We'll see what happens.

January 18, 200620 yr (btw that wasn't written by Samson, so don't get all giddy) Every email I've received back from him has seemed legit. Yep me too. I sent him an email a few months ago and today got a response with an apology for the delayed response. He must have gone through his mail today.
January 18, 200620 yr Well atleast they're meeting with Hialeah. Agree! Atleast he wrote back, the Portland and Vegas trip gets publicity but I bet the hialeah meeting wont!
January 18, 200620 yr Krysten, of course I ready all my e-mails. Sorry for the delay in responding to you. As much as it pains you, I think it may pain me more. Every day when I look at my kids, it makes me work harder to secure the future of baseball n South Florida. As you know, we have made significant changes to this franchise in an effort to have our payroll match our revenues. Jeffrey Loria's desire to lose money could only go so far. Frankly, for the past several years, he has been operating his team with his heart, not his head. We are going to continue to work hard to be a good team on the field and secure a permanent place to play. Thank you for your e-mail, and I apologize for the delay in responding to you. Regards, David Samson
January 18, 200620 yr He isnt saying anything that he hasnt already said publicly. Recylcing of comments whether the emails are legit or not. We want new updates and facts not something to smooth sh*t over temporarily.

January 18, 200620 yr I finally received a response from Admin Beinfest. Geez I must have written this e-mail sometime during November. Anyway it was nice to see he took the time to respond. Dear PBMarlin: Thank you for your comments/concerns regarding the off-season player moves of the Florida Marlins. Your analysis is well thought out and in many respects, right on. To put it simply, the revenues generated in this market have not been close to the team payrolls over the past four seasons. With no stadium deal in place, the revenues continually challenged and Jeffrey Loria funding heavy losses, the ?market correction? to the payroll is easily justified. I will not get into the monetary reasons why the ?market correction? involved so many players other than to look at it from a competitive/long term view. In your e-mail you said..."Up until the Castillo trade it looked like this team could be expected to win 70-80 games next year." 70-80 wins is not the goal of the team. Therefore, in order to build toward championship caliber in the near future, we decided to continue to collect players that will be in our championship future. While I agree that retaining a few veteran players may help the team win more games, it was our opinion that it was more important to re-build than enjoy those few extra wins (and still not be championship quality). In my first year with the Marlins, we traded Matt Clement, Antonio Alfonseca, Cliff Floyd, Ryan Dempster, Charles Johnson, Preston Wilson and Kevin Millar. Fans were very uneasy with the direction of the team. Those trades netted Dontrelle Willis, Carl Pavano, Juan Encarnacion, Juan Pierre and a World Championship. Given our track record, I hope that you believe we are trying to obtain the necessary talent to get back to the post-season. Again, thank you for taking the time to share your feelings and I hope to see you at the ballpark. GET HOOKED! 1997 & 2003 World Series Champion Florida Marlins http://www.floridamarlins.com
January 19, 200620 yr In my first year with the Marlins, we traded Matt Clement, Antonio Alfonseca, Cliff Floyd, Ryan Dempster, Charles Johnson, Preston Wilson and Kevin Millar. I love how he speaks so proudly of that, just funny to me.
