The Mayor of Hialeah will appear live tommorow at the Publix on 1585 W. 49 St from 6 pm to 7 pm together with the members of Descarga Deportiva and will discuss the possibility of a stadium in Hialeah. Jerry Del Castillo the main host on the show was also there at the meeting with Marianne Salazar at the church. Del Castillo seems to be determined to help in all he can to keep the Marlins here. We as a fan base should support the the Marlins by showing up tomorrow, 01/20 at 6pm. It is very important for the city of Hialeah to know that we support all their efforts to keep OUR team here. If all the people that sign on to this website show up, I'm sure that it will be a full house. The more people that show up the more coverage and exposure we will get. We need to let all those other cities know that the Marlins are not going anywhere. At least not without a fight!!!!

It would be great if a lot of fans showed up, but ultimately that would be a very minor factor in there decison. We just have to hold out hope that they want to keep the Marlins in South Florida as much as we do.

Robaina was just on channel 7 news and he states that he is very interested in keeping the Marlins here specially in Hialeah. It now seems that we have hope of the Marlins staying via 2 routes, the Wayne Huizenga idea (Wayne's World), and Hialeah.

i happy if they stay in south florida, but i'm not at all excited about having to drive to hialeah. it's hard enough to get to JRS for 7 o'clock games.

I don't know where you live but if they decide to go with Hialeah Park you wouldn't have to drive. It's easily accessible with Tri-rail or metro rail. There are no transfers involved. It's a straight shot.

I hope someone who listens can give us anglos a recap of what was said.

The Hialeah Race Track site is a nightmare. I know as a long time horse racing fan. I drove to that site from Western Broward for years. I only went because I love horse racing as much as I love the Marlins. It's a miserable place to get to from most areas in the Dade-Broward-Palm Beach area. You couldn't pick a worse location roadwise in the entire southern third of the Eastern Florida Peninsula. The Hialeah Heights site is far preferable. Unfortunately, I think that this whole Hialeah thing is a bunch of garbage political maneuvering...and anyone who knows this area knows Hialeah is a hotbed of garbage corrupt politics. The ace track does have the tri-rail or metro-rail...whatever...it doesn't make a difference because very few people will use mass transportation in this area. And talk about a destination in the middle of nowhere. At least Joe Robbie is truly in the middle of nowhere, but it's far from a spur off a highway. Rather it's conveniently placed as fairly as possible and easy to get to for all fans from Kendall to Jupiter. Hialeah Race Track site is the middle of nowhere in the middle of slums with horrible ingress and egress. The best solution remains Joe Robbie Stadium with a roof and a reworked lease.

I doubt if the Hialeah racetrack site has much of a chance, but the Hialeah Heights idea could gain momentum quick. It basically has the same merits as Dolphins Stadium, as far as accessibility.

The Hialeah Heights will be a real traffic nightmare also...I just think of the palmetto and it turns me off. The whole stadium in suburb locations just doesn't do it for me. It's not working for JRS nor is it really working in Sunrise. With gas prices increasing not everyone wants to drive 40-80 games. Once again thats just my opinion. I hope that we could still keep the Marlins in South Florida and if it means the Hialeah Heights location then so be it but I would much prefer it in a more populated area that offers other options of getting to the game much like the Horse track location. Middle of slums? I would seriously disagree with you on that and I could show you some real slums. JRS unfortunately does not look like its going to happen (for the time being unless there is breaking news). Putting a roof on JRS will only be a bandage and not a real solution to the big problem. I've been to the Horse races in Hialeah and the traffic flow was never a problem. The Hialeah police usually directed the traffic flow much like they do in all major sporting events in South Florida however we do not have a confusing scenario that takes place on Dan Marino Blvd.
