That's exactly what I've been talking about. Yet, some people on this board attack me for saying it. They must be in denial that a city could still look like that 5 months after a hurricane. It's absolutely unacceptable.

I never denied the city still looked like that. I said if people are still living in those houses 5 months after the storm then they're f***ing idiots.

There are parts of Miami-Dade where you can still see the damage from Andrew. There are even trees leftover from the 1926 hurricane that fell over! A city isn't going to suddenly sprout new homes. Rebuilding one single home is a year long process if you want it built right. Imagine rebuilding an entire city where half the population is still under the "displaced citizens" category.

Um, I've lived in Miami-Dade my entire life, and for over 10 years since Andrew, and I haven't seen any Andrew-related damage still around since maybe 1994. Where did you see this?

but at least the tourist areas are looking good!

In the end, isn't that all that matters? :plain

pretty much!

its like that in all cities though, only just now are they getting the drainage taken care of in regards to the san antonio river in regards to real flood controls.

but downtown has been taken care of since the 1920s!

good thing we have didnt get royally screwed in the two hundred year floods within the past 10 years.

yay for the poor!

Have you been near the Air Force Reserve base? There are still trees bent over like matchsticks from Andrew. Not only that, but the what you can't see unless you look hard enough (The mold). There is still visible damage. You just have to look far enough South where redevelopment has yet to reclaim the land.

Are you talking about the Homestead Reserve Base?

Excuse me, but how did Homestead look 5 months after Andrew? Be realistic people.

It didn't look the way it did when the storm had just passed, I can tell you that for sure. That's not the case in LA.

To be fair many parts of the city were underwater for weeks if not months.

A lot of poor people don't have much choice in the matter.
