February 15, 200620 yr NY Yankees 5/2 Chicago White Sox 5/1 St. Louis Cardinals 11/2 Boston Red Sox 11/2 Cleveland Indians 8/1 NY Mets 8/1
February 15, 200620 yr Dallas Cowboys 1/0 Thus if they win the World Series you win an infinite amount of money even if you only put 1 cent on them.
February 16, 200620 yr The White Sox at 5/1? No way will they do what they did last year. That was a fluke season where the stars aligned. No way does that happen again.

Winnign 99 regular season games, losing 1 playoff game, going wire to wire just screams fluke season. No one on that staff besides Buehrle will produce like they did last year. Their season almost crashed and burned late in the year when they slipped and Cleveland almost caught them. Career years from unproven players never guarantees success the following year.

Nothing ever gurantees success the following year. All I am saying is that it wasn't a fluke.
February 16, 200620 yr I think the white sox have as good a chance as anyone. They added some players to their lineup and I wouldnt be suprised if they won it again.
February 16, 200620 yr I think the Sox have what it takes to repeat, although they shouldn't have done the Thome trade. Replacing El Duque with Javier Vazquez is probably a good idea.
February 16, 200620 yr As far as a risk/reward gamble goes, I'm intrigued by the Twins at 25/1. I think they have what it takes to win the division and outside of Boston they represent probably the scariest playoff team in all of baseball at the moment.
February 16, 200620 yr The White Sox have a STRONGER team than last year, and they still have all those stud pitchers. The only reason they're not ranked ahead of the aging Yankees, is 'cause they don't play in New York. Fluke year?? Gimme a break!
February 16, 200620 yr The '04 Red Sox were much more of a fluke, that's for sure. The Red Sox won 95 games the next year and made the playoffs and will be contenders for the fourth straight year this season, the White Sox haven't done that yet and aren't close as of right now.

Do you really believe the Sox will win that many games this season? Why not? We improved our starting rotation, the bull pen, at 1st base on both sides of the ball, at 2nd base on both sides of the ball, and defense at short. I definitely see the Red Sox at the 90-95 win mark and contending for the division through the last week of the season.

Insightful posts. No really considering they ahven't played a game yet.
February 17, 200620 yr No way will anyone other than Buerhle put up comparable numbers to their 05 season. The team was a fluke team where the stars aligned. They weren't very good.
