April 12, 200620 yr With 3 of our starters, (Abercrombie, Jacobs, and Olivo), well 4 if you count Eric Reed, hitting under .200, they should start calling the Mendoza line the Marlins line. I still love this team, but this hurts.

After that article, the "mendoza line" became a popular term for a .200 batting average. It's the breaking point between average to bad hitters and just plain horrible hitters.

April 13, 200620 yr This is the worst topic ever. We're 7 games into the season and you think anyone's batting average means anything. Jacobs won't hit .200 just like (sadly) Shadez won't be hitting over .400 this year.
