Well how Conine is hitting i think they will. I Dont think Conine can turn it around.

What makes you say Conine won't turn it around?Conine was also signed through the 2005 season...Which leads me to believe Lee will be traded. Conine is just adjusting to the National League pitching, actually he has begun to see the ball much better now,he just had an off-game today. It would be wonderful if he(Lee) could stay but we didn't sign Conine to a 3-year deal to be a bench player.Lee will be traded because he is too much money to keep with the ballclub.

I know he will stay for up to 2005 but that was a wrong move by the Marlins. Conine will be like 40+ in 2005. He has the worst mechanics as a hitter i have ever seen.

Now Derek is young and the best Defensive 1st baseman in the game right now, including JT Snow. He has been heating up this 2nd half and he will developing in to a great power hitter later on. What about all those runs he has saved us with the picks and the dives. Conine wont provide that too us or 30 + Home Runs.

His first career 30 home run season.

It should be 40, but what are you gonna do?

BTW: 18K this afternoon, I'll take it on a sun. afternoon when they could have stayed home to watch the Phins play the Jets.

and this is why people think Lee sucks. Because people always expect more out of the guy. "He should have had 40." Ok. Well had 30. Not too many MLB 1Bs can say that.

If the Marlins go deep in the playoffs.....Lee stays as does the rest of the infield. This is fact.

I almost agree. I think Luis could VERY possibly re-sign if we make the post-season. Lee is a question mark. I'd rather have him than Conine, although I think Conine is fine. All you guys that say you hate Lee because he isn't clutch (90% of this board) should be doing backflips with Conine replacing Lee. But, you're all obviously saying you want Lee instead, because you're all hippicrits (sp).

a lot depends on what is available in the offseason. If we could get the SD 2nd baseman (name has slipped my mind), then I say let Castillo go, and keep Lee.

Loretta signed a 2-year extension with San Diego. Cross him off.

I was, and still semi am, one of those "DLee is not clutch" folks. My arguement was not stat based, most aren't, because I feel I have seen enough baseball to know and understand the intricacies (sp) of the game to be able to make these assesments free of the MIT stat formulas. Now, with the same arguement in consideration, I have now started switching sides. Partly due to an ongoing arguement I have with a friend, I have noticed that DLee has been ALOT better in the clutch and has come through with some big hits (including some S.H.O.T.S.) when the time is right. Hopefully he will continue this into the playoffs.
