Posted April 22, 200619 yr One week he gets caught trying to steal 3rd, another he gets picked off first as a pinch runner. Why is he still up at the big level and what is his value to the team?
April 22, 200619 yr Hopefully the reason he's here is because Hermida is on the DL I really hope they send him down and not Kool Aid when Jeremy comes back, because I'd prefer Reggie out in center to Cepicky, Aguila, or Reed.
April 22, 200619 yr He's the next Juan Pierre! He just: 1) Can't hit as well 2) Can't run as fast 3) Can't bunt as well 4) Can't run the bases as well 5) Doesn't have the same work ethic
April 22, 200619 yr Agreed. Reed is the one player that stands out as not being ready to play at this level. He needs to be sent down. It's a good thing Abercrombie has picked up the pace as it will be an easier decision to demote Reed when Hermida comes off the DL.
April 22, 200619 yr Eric Reed will go down to the minors with a great idea of what he needs to work on. You can be sure that when they are going over baserunning and pickup scenerios he will be a much better student than he ever has. He will now uderstand why plate discipline and working a count is a huge advantage. I think Reed has a shot of being a a ficture on a ML roster at some point because of his speed and glove. In my opinion though he needs to lose this notion that he will be a leadoff hitter and work on becoming a solid # 2 hitter. Work the count, make contact, move runners over...anytime he puts the ball in play on the ground he has a shot at a hit.
April 22, 200619 yr we don't have a better outfielder down in minors i guess..reed just isn't ready for the big leauges. that pitcher last night had a heck of a move though. but reed still shouldn't of been picked off...
