April 25, 200620 yr Well folks, we have a conflict of interests. Either Minaya is lying, Loria is lying, or the guy who made this rumor has a huge libel case on his hands. :lol oh the drama Ok one report says Loria denied it. One report says Minaya refused it. You tell me? It's a serious topic of debate. If Minaya was tellin the truth, that means the Fish did offer Willis. And since Loria vehemently denied it in the papers, that makes him a big fat liar.

I realize that reading comprehension is remarkably low here, as is deductive reasoning, but where is exactly is Minaya quoted as saying anything in the Heyman article? Please point it out for all of us to consider. What you have on one hand is a totally unsubstantiated rumor and on the other the owner of the franchise saying it isn't true. If there was a single word from Minaya in the story relating to the possiblility of a trade or even confirming a conversation took place, then I'd understand your POV and your name-calling, but since there isn't, any conclusion you draw is by definition erronous and flawed.

I recall one article saying that Minaya didn't even introduce the trade to ownership because he wouldn't consider it. I'll go find it, sir. Hold, please. I realize that reading comprehension is remarkably low here, as is deductive reasoning, but where is exactly is Minaya quoted as saying anything in the Heyman article? Please point it out for all of us to consider. Mets general manager Omar Minaya quickly rejected it, and it's believed he didn't even consider it seriously enough to take it to club ownership. c/o Sun-Sentinel (link earlier in the thread). by Heyman. And now you're going to say something like "Oh if he's not quoted, it's just a rumor." But I answered your question, and you need to be a bit more humble in your remarks I think.
April 25, 200620 yr The part of the article that convinces me that it's bulls*** is where it says, "it's believed he didn't even consider it seriously enough to take it to club ownership." It's believed? If he had gotten this information directly from the horse's mouth (Minaya) he wouldn't say "it's believed." He would say, "he didn't consider it seriously enough."
April 25, 200620 yr I agree. But the previous sentence makes it sound very concrete that at some point, Minaya refused the deal. And as I said earlier, either Minaya is lying, Loria is lying, or the author of the article is making some very false accusations/claims.
April 25, 200620 yr And now you're going to say something like "Oh if he's not quoted, it's just a rumor." But I answered your question, and you need to be a bit more humble in your remarks I think. Do you read, my man? And seriously, the pompous attitude=not necessary. You need to learn some serious etiquette.

It's a statement by the author without corroboration or proof. And all the Sun Sentinel did was reprint Heyman's Newsday piece. They had no story of their own. The fact that you can't tell a quote from a supposition put forth by the author just fortifies my contention that reading comprehension here is abysmal as are the conclusions drawn.
April 25, 200620 yr lol 6 pages It's Willis, baby! We don't want to believe he's being targeted for trade.

I really think the trade would be a steal for us. Wright is a stud. Were some of you teachers in your past life? Just curious :whistle

April 27, 200620 yr Pierre, Willis set for friendly duel By Joe Capozzi Palm Beach Post Staff Writer Tuesday, April 25, 2006 CHICAGO ? It was a ritual between two close friends in the three years they were Marlins teammates: On the days after he pitched, Dontrelle Willis would throw in the outfield to Juan Pierre. Pierre, an outfielder, took it so seriously, he bought a left-handed catcher's glove, which he said he "retired" after he was traded to the Cubs on Dec. 7. But the glove came up in conversation Monday when the two friends reunited. Marlins coverage "We had breakfast this morning," Pierre said. "I told him I'm going to get him. I said, 'You think I was catching you just for your benefit? I was waiting for this day, too!' " "This day" is tonight at Wrigley Field, when Pierre faces Willis for the first time. "Facing Dontrelle, that's going to be pretty weird," Pierre said. "A guy you went to battle with and played behind so much, and I'll be on the other side trying to get hits off him, trying to beat him." Willis said facing his old friend would be "no big deal. He's a good dude. He took care of me when I first came in (in May 2003). I'll always have a lot of love for him." Pierre said he doesn't play catch with any of the Cubs pitchers because he doesn't know them well and his glove is in hibernation. "But you never know. It might come out. There are 22 wins in that left-handed catcher's mitt," he said, referring to Willis' win total last year. Willis adjusting: Last year, Willis won his first five starts while compiling a 1.29 ERA. He makes his fifth start of 2006 tonight, and he's 1-0 with a 2.92 ERA. Aside from pitching for a younger, more inexperienced team this year, Willis also has issued nine walks in 24 2/3 innings, compared with six walks in 35 innings last April. "Dontrelle has thrown more pitches, but I think Dontrelle is trying too hard, too," manager Joe Girardi said. "I think he's thinking, 'Well, I have to win. I'm the ace.' You can't approach (your starts) that way. " Chilly night: The Marlins could play in their coolest conditions of the season tonight. A high of 49 and steady winds are forecast for Chicago today, but the temperature will already will have dropped by game time. The low tonight is expected to be 37. The good news: The weather should be dry. Loria denies trade talk: Owner Jeffrey Loria denied a Newsday report that said the Marlins approached the New York Mets in the past several weeks about trading Willis for David Wright. "It never happened. You can print that," Loria said. "It's the invention of some irresponsible writer." Heat-ed subject: Pierre, an avid Miami Heat basketball fan, said that being traded to Chicago doesn't mean he roots for the Bulls. "I can't really talk too much out here because this is Chicago and they love their sports here," said Pierre, who owns a house in Parkland in north Broward County, "so I've got to root for the Heat silently." With the Cubs off Thursday, Pierre said he hopes to attend the Heat-Bulls playoff game that night at the United Center. Noteworthy: Girardi said outfielder Jeremy Hermida (sore right hip flexor) might see some minor-league action before being activated from the disabled list. He is eligible to come off Thursday.... First base coach Perry Hill rejoined the team Monday after leaving for 10 days because of personal reasons.
