Before being drafted by the Marlins in the sixth round of the 2002 draft, Scott Olsen tried out for the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

On Wednesday afternoon, Olsen will get to face the Cubs in a game that counts in the "Friendly Confines."

A resident of Crystal Lake, Ill., Olsen is set to make his third start of the season. In his last start, the left-hander collected a victory, beating the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

Now, Olsen pitches in the final game of the Marlins' three-city road trip, which included one rainout in Philadelphia.

After dropping the first two games of the series, Florida is trying to avoid being swept. It also is attempting to snap a three-game losing streak in, what is now, a 2-5 road trip.

A Cubs fan growing up, Olsen is trying not to let his emotions get the best of him for this start.

"You don't want to get too caught up with all the surroundings right now," Olsen said. "It might be a little different when I get out there."

The Cubs are going with right-hander Angel Guzman, who makes his Major League debut.

Some of his former high school teammates will be among the 25 tickets Olsen purchased for the game. That group includes Max Warner, who was Olsen's catcher.

Pitching matchup

FLA: LHP Scott Olsen (1-1, 1.50)

A graduate of Crystal Lake South High School in Illinois, Olsen grew up a big Cubs fan. Now, Olsen is in line to pitch in Wrigley Field for the first time. Fresh off an impressive win at Philadelphia, Olsen is seeking his third straight solid start. In beating the Phillies, he gave up two runs (one earned) in 6 2/3 innings. A key for him is walks allowed. He walked two at Citizens Bank Park.

CHI: RHP Angel Guzman (0-0, 0.00)

The 24-year-old right-hander is making his first big league start. Guzman was called up on Sunday to take Jerome Williams' spot and inserted into the bullpen on the first day. Guzman has been slowed in his young career because of arm problems. At Iowa, he was 1-2 with a 6.61 ERA in three games, and had struck out 23 in 16 1/3 innings.

Players to watch

Fort Lauderdale native Matt Murton has hurt the Marlins in the firt two games of the series. The Cubs left fielder had a two-run single to tie the game in the eighth inning on Monday. And on Tuesday, Murton added three more hits, and drove in two more runs.

Jacque Jones homered on Sunday and Monday, and was hitless on Tuesday, although he did successfully execute a sacrifice. He has yet to get a hit off a lefty, going 0-for-7 so far, and could face a southpaw for the third straight game on Wednesday.

•Angel Guzman is most famous for: Never throwing a pitch in the major leagues

•Will the Marlins bats awaken?

•1918, 2003, 2006?

•How many RISP will the Marlins leave?

•If someone in the Marlins bullpen throws a scoreless inning, but it occured when the Marlins were losing, did it really happen?

•Who is smoother?... Shadez or.... wait.... he has no comparison... in that case... nevermind

•Seriously guys, this is the Cubs... it's not like its the South Siders!

Yes. Joe said he played in CF once in a while in the minors and he has been taking fly balls for about 3 weeks.
