Can we get this concept proposed?

I've been wondering if we can have Position Player DH's...cause I can live with Eric Reed's speed and defense...can we get someone to bat for him every time he's up?

...Please? :confused

If the Marlins played in the AL this could work but seeing the NL has been sans DH since 1973 this idea has little hope.

It's actually the other way around, the AL has been with the DH since 73.

If we're going to keep him, we need to use him the way the Oakland A's used Herb Washington in the 70s.

So your suggesting we place him in just to defend in tight games and as a pinch runner?

It's all that Phillies GM's fault who didn't vote, but if that would have never happened we would have never seen the great hits pitchers have made to win games for themselves.

it's possible but only when we're playing in an american league park, of course. this may not happen though because it's kinda disrespectful with a younger player and girardi may not want to do that. it could happen in a game when willis/vargas pitches.

wow...i didnt know this was actually possible at all...

I was just making a semi-humorous/semi-sarcastic point about Reed's lack of hitting compared to his above average defense...

but thanks for all the responses! :thumbup

(b) The Rule provides as follows: A hitter may be designated to bat for the starting pitcher and all subsequent pitchers in any game without otherwise affecting the status of the pitcher(s) in the game.
