Fish Fillet
I pin the flaming pile of corn-filled shiite that was today's loss directly on Trader Jack. The fact that he stayed with Willis too long (Like he does with every starter) is a minor gaff. But the thing that really chafes my can is the fact that he went to Chad Fox. Now, Fox is solid and all that, but as far as I'm concerned if it's the 7th, 8th or 9th innings of a close game there should never, ever, ever be anyone on the hill besides Uggiloop. What kind of special old idiot do you have to be to not put UU in there? There is no excuse at all for this. UU was fresh and avaiable. The FO did not go out and get UU so he could sit in the pen and make sure no one steals the folding chairs. Rosenthal needs to stop stuffing his fat piehole with Phillie Cheesesteaks in the dugout, yank the Denny's early bird menu out of Jack's hands and slap him with his AARP card. Unacceptable. Ramp
Fox has been pretty good this year.... come on Fish
Fish Fillet
So what if Fox has been good. Give me one good reason why UU isn't pitching in that spot. One reason.
Ramp
he pitched last night? why take out a reliever(Fox) who just threw 1 pitch? whatever, thats just how i feel
Admin
I thought Uggy should've been brought in as well. I said it to Joe as the inning started. Fox vs Thome had bad news written all over it.

Admin
2 words were f***ed. No we are not. And maybe you should start having a tad more faith in this team. Everytime something goes wrong, you are ready to jump ship.
BIG Z
we r f***ed,unless we can do something about our f***ing pitching!
Fish Fillet
The Fish aren't bent over yet, but if they should happen to not make the playoffs it'll be boneheaded, idiotic, stupid, moronic, imbecillic decisions like the one today that will be the reason. AGonzalez11
Agreed FF. Fox should not have been in that game, ESPECIALLY with JIM THOME Coming to bat. I Would have understood if he was facing the bottom of the order. You want your best to face their best in crucial situations, and Urbina is the best we have in the Pen. There's not one reason why he shouldn't have been pitching Not to mention he put in Mike Mordecai to pinch hit in the 9th when he has Ramon Castro batting .429 with a 1.355 OPS vs. lefties. Not trying to hate on Jack because he's done a hell of a job here, but lately some of his decisions have been questionable to say the least. Fish Fillet
Don't even get me started on PH'ing Mini-Me. You are down by one run in the 9th with two light hitting contact hitters due up 2nd and 3rd. Why put another light-hitting contact hitter in front of them? You need one stinking run, not a rally. Even if Mordi gets a hit you still need at least one (probalby two) more hits to bring him around, or at least a sac and a hit. Of all the players on the pine, Mordi would of been the last person I would of went to. Heck, I would of PH Penny with his power before Mordi ever even thinks about picking up a stick. But then again, I should be happy that Old Man River didn't let Fox hit. He's good at giving outs up by not PH'ing for pitchers.
Admin
I agreed with the Mordi decision. Several times this year he came up big when people were wondering why he was up there swinging. With the lefty in there, our options were cut down and I have no qualms about Mordecai getting the PH shot there.
Hugg
Hindsight is always 20-20. As a manager, you have to have confidence that Chad Fox can get the job done or he shouldn't be on the team. Granted, I wouldn't have pitched to Thome anyway, he's their best player, never let him beat you, but again, hindsight is 20-20. As for us being screwed, not even close. Obviously, we should have won today, but as long as we play well this weekend, I think we're fine.

As a manager, you have to have confidence that Chad Fox can get the job done or he shouldn't be on the team. I like your idealism. I think I heard someone humming the Marlins' theme song in the background while I read it. I guess if your logic is correct then why not put Bump or Neal out there? Face it, this was a major blunder. THe whole reasoning behind getting UU was to shorten games to 7 innings. IMO if Old Man River isn't automatically going to UU in the 7th then he should make him the closer.
Hugg
Kinda hard to shorten the game when you're not winning it. Would I have rather had Urbina out there? Sure. But, he HAS pitched a lot lately, we weren't winning the game, which is why he's here, that's what a set-up guy is. Fox threw one pitch the last inning, why not bring him back. Ramp
Chad Fox's era in 20IP this year(for the Fish) was 2.25.... his batting avg against was .191 lefties were hitting .200 off him this wasnt a bad choice, Fox has been great...... Fish Fillet
I'm sorry, I missed the rule that says you can't use the ex-closer with the 1.11 ERA in the seventh as a set up man if you are tied.
Hugg
Chad Fox got the job done in the 7th, so that's completely irrelevant. Like Ramp said, Fox has pitched well this year, it's not like we had some expanded roster guy out there.
Ramp
who said you cant? anyway Chad Fox has been great for us.... it wasnt a bad move....
miami15
just take two from atlanta and and win the series against philly and we will be okay! but with Phillies' s***ty bullpen, we could've easily won in extra innings today.
