Calling all Psychologists.... we need help.

Featured Replies

Okay, I know I am not the only one who believes that this team needs some help. I mean mental help. How can a bullpen blow like 5 saves in 3 days? There must be something going on in their heads. They believe that they will blow the lead everytime and when they think that it happens.

:call

Anyone agree with me? (I know a few people do)

Or could this just be a curse?

not just anyone can close a game.

also the lack of talent doesn't help.

but closers have a certain mentality. but even talent doesn't make a closer (see mota)

Our bullpen is made up of guys who are either inexperienced or not very good. There isnt much to be done except to keep letting the young guys pitch and hopefully they'll get better.

Every close this year will just make the future victories the sweeter. just like the pain of 1998 made 2003 so awesome.

You wonder how long even Loria can stand this though. Despite all the payroll-slashing, he has to see that the offense has played well enough to win quite a few games and I think it's well known that Loria does not like to lose. Maybe he was prepared for a lot of losing this season, but not losing like this, where wins have been well within their grasp.

It would seem silly to go out & spend much money, but there's got to be someone out there that can help...

The thing is they pitch good when the game is not on the line and pitch bad when it is... There must be something going on. I know our bullpen is terrible but you would think that maybe once they could close out a game.

I totally agree with you Holly, and I don't think it is just the team either, all this dramatic losing is putting stress on the fans as well, causing wild dillusions! I mean look at your own post!

Blowing 5 saves in 3 days? Thats almost not even possible! Or at least highly improbable! We need to cure this before we start blowing 10 saves in 2 days! Time is running out :)

.... And yes I agree with you, a shrink probably would be worth a try, we don't want our players to get into a culture of losing (See: Royals of Kansas City, and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays), we want our guys to overcome it, the sooner the better!

When I first clicked on this thread I thought it was about us, the fans, needing psychologists from all the trauma we've suffered...

:lol We need a thread with all our promotion ideas..Who want to start it? We need a laugh.

i donot know if i can watch marlins play hey i have idea let put game on when 9 inning start that way we see if going win or loss game !!!!!!!!!!

Psychologists are not needed for the bullpen. We need a closer who has the stuff to shut the other team down. Carlos Martinez looked like he has the right mentality. Hopefully he rehabs quick and can put up some solid, injury-free numbers for the rest of the season. I am pretty sure he will get a chance at least.
