Posted May 24, 200619 yr So yesterday I went by to drop something off at FIU and was stopped by a girl at a table to sign some petition, me and my friend almost blew her off because GC is always packed with people trying to get you to sign something or buy something but this was for actually a worthy cause. The petition they had us signed was to help keep some of the art sculptures on campus which I love because it makes the campus unique in that way. So I'm asking that if there are any FIU students on the board that can help them please sign the petition online at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/FIU_Art_Sculptures thanks
May 24, 200619 yr Author What are they going to trash them all? Not all of them but some of them are going to be given back to the donors.
May 24, 200619 yr I agree that the sculptures are great, if you haven't signed the petition and you're a student make sure you do.
May 24, 200619 yr Ahhh there giving them back, YUP I signed up, I think its different and neat.... GOT TO LOVE THE CUBE!
May 24, 200619 yr I guess I'm on my own, but I always thought most of the sculptures sucked. The only one I really like is the cube, the one in the front is ok I guess.

May 24, 200619 yr I actually have to resend my housing stuff tomorrow since I didn't include my Panther ID. If I don't on campus housing, I'll be pissed, as I'll have to drive 45 minutes to an hour to get to school.
May 24, 200619 yr Unfortunately Ill be continuing my FIU experience. Very disappointed in the school. :confused
May 25, 200619 yr Welcome to the fiu and the proud :thumbup Unfortunately Ill be continuing my FIU experience. Very disappointed in the school. :confused What dont you like about it FishTank?
May 25, 200619 yr ive seen that petition a few times at school, just never really realized what it was talking about. ill probably do it tommorow. class of 06
May 25, 200619 yr The classes, teachers, and atmosphere. The teachers dont give a sh*t. The business department is switching to "hybrid" courses which is half online half lecture. Sounds great but its $299.99 extra on top of regular tuition. You have to do work via internet schedules. Their lectures are half fast power point crap. Im just very disappointed. There is barely an on campus atmosphere. Parking is ridiculous. Good luck finding any parking at University Park. I went to an awesome community college where teachers taught and cared about your experience. Ive had trouble with their financial aid, with brusars office (they said I owed a lot more money than I did). No one person can answer you directly about anything. You have to go through hoops and ladders to find anything out. All in all Im disappointed.
May 25, 200619 yr Generally, the teachers do suck (the ones I've had, anyways). Except for the ones in the poli sci and international relations department, though, because all but a couple have been very good to this point.

One thing that I know is that they dont give a sh*t about you. you have to find out everything yourself. If there is a problem in the system you have to fix it... :lol

May 25, 200619 yr I agree with everything except the parking. There's plenty of parking if you're willing to walk, which most people aren't. The garage by the old gym is never full. Of course now they closed the garages down so for a while yes it'll be hard.
May 25, 200619 yr Yeah, me and dagreatone almost blew her off, but luckily we caught ahold of what was going on. Im so used to blowing off people running for sga already. About FIU, if you want a campus life, get involved. There are hundreds of clubs, and sure, they are not as active as, say, UF, but there are plenty of people and organizations to get involved with. Also, if you want the true experience, go Greek. It has been a blast, you meet great people and have great fun. I actually was introduced to my fraternity by 1truefan, and now shes my big sis. On campus housing is growing, there is a 500 people waiting list and new dorms being built, plus the new Law building going up and Med School opening. I wouldnt trade FIU right now for anything, and I could have gone to UM, West Point, Syarcuse to new a few that I got accepted to. I dunno if I wanna transfer to FSU or Emory, or just wait here and go to Law School somewhere else.

I live 5 minutes away from the campus but if parking is as bad as I'm hearing, I'll definately takes the bus.
May 26, 200619 yr I went to Indian River Community College. Sure you make of it what you make of it. But when the school makes it difficult to enjoy your college experience Im sorry its not just sour grapes. This is the same school where Administrators and teachers were caught being Cuban spies working for Fidel. What does that tell you?
May 26, 200619 yr for the honors college peeps, I highly recommend the Everglades course for your 4th year option.
