June 21, 200620 yr Author Conine can play on any Marlin team he wants...he is an awesome guy and a great clubhouse presence. Besides always giving 200% Exactly...I can't believe some of you people who are mad at Conine and wouldn't take him back. It's not that he didn't want to be here. He just wanted to play for a contender since he only has 1-2 years left of his career. NO ONE thought the Marlins could make the playoffs this year. How is that so hard to understand? I would have done the same thing honestly. No. Are we going to be asking for Juan Pierre and Lenny Harris back next? Obviously you don't know what Jeff Conine means to this franchise....I'm not talking about 2 average guys here. If we are in contention going into the trade deadline..... Niner means a lot this franchise and I hope that he would retire a Marlin because that only seems fitting, but he helps this way in no way. Need to stop looking to the past. He isn't the same Conine that helped in 1997 or 2003. Besides if he didn't want to be here at the beginning of the season why would he be happy about a trade. If the Marlins want to contend I hope they are looking for a centerfielder not a bat who can come off the bench.

Because hey, OMGFORMERMARLIN is a great reason to trade for someone who has no place on this team. And bringing back JP is hysterical, because right now he's no better an option than Amezaga or Abercrombie offensively or defensively.
June 21, 200620 yr Let Conine go, he did a lot for this team and it is time to give him back what he deserve. He is 38 years old so he has no reason being here. Plus brining him in just to ph, that putting him in a prson cell. He did his part and it is time to let go. It is the cycle of the fish!
