August 9, 200620 yr And it's still a stupid suggestion. Why move a developing player from SS to CF, a position he's never played before, for someone of less talent than our existing centerfielders? It's not worth it. Not only that, it harms Ramirez' development as a shortstop. And if your intentions are to move him to centerfield permenantly, harms the Marlins' future lineup as adequate centerfielders typically hit much better than adequate shortstops.
August 9, 200620 yr another of my rumors is that the Devil Rays are very high on Andino right now....may be some truth in that they move BJ Upton to 3rd..slide in Andino and give us a CF for some of our pitching as well......that keeps Hanley and Uggla where they belong and gives us a CF for next season.....also relieves us of some of our excess pitching They just got Zobrist in the Huff deal and if he doesn't pan out they have Brignac coming in a year or two. Doesn't make any sense. Tampa doesn't need a SS. They need pitching.

But that doesn't rule out the possiblity of him being included in a package deal with a pitcher or two (Petit).

August 9, 200620 yr Hanley Ramirez doesn't field his position well because he comes from the Red Sox minor league system.
August 9, 200620 yr i prefer we keep hanley in the ss position, putting him in centerfield could wear him down as the season goes on, especially as he gets older
August 9, 200620 yr Andino>Aguilla Either way Amezaga>Andino for sure. If your going to move Hanley to CF...make Alfredo your everyday starter at short. I also wouldn't mind seeing Hammer move to the infield. we need his bat and he has a good arm...ss? Amezaga is not an everyday starter on a team competing for the playoffs
August 9, 200620 yr It would be nice to have at least one infielder who can play above average defensively. Right now our infield defense is a horror show. If Andino continues to progress offensively and defensively and Hanley doesn't improve at SS, I wouldn't mind the Marlins trying out Hanley in centerfield next season. He has the speed to cover the huge expanse in DS. And it would solve our CF problem if it works out.
