August 15, 200620 yr Look.. The Mets are struggling IMO because of fatigue. I feel, in fact i know Willie will make sure to give everyone the proper rest before the playoffs. Mets are going after Shawn Green and Preston Wilson. Say we trade for Green, we wouldnt be giving up anything of value so our lineup would look like this. We should also get Floyd and Castro back off the DL. 1. Reyes [sS] 2. Lo Duca [C] 3. Beltran [CF] 4. Delgado [1B] 5. Wright [3B] 6. Floyd [LF] 7. Green [RF] 8. Valentin [2B] 9. Pitcher And then we have a deep bench. Chavez, Wilson, Castro, Franco, Milledge, Woodward, Tucker. I just want to make sure the bullpen gets rested and Willie is going to implement the 6 man rotation for all of september so we should be rested and ready to roll. Well, after last night (and seeing Pedro hurt again) the Dodgers are now easily the scariest NL team no one wants to play in October. Lowe was sort of the wild-card for the Dodgers, and Pedro is basically the only hope for the Mets, and both rotations seem to be going in drastically different directions. 14 game lead be damned, these are not the same Mets of April, May and June. Huh? We just won 9 of 11 bro.

Last I checked, the Mets pitching was going to be their undoing, and if Pedro isn't healthy or effective, they're D-O-N-E.

You're telling me that you'd rather play the Dodgers right now over the Mets? Or, for that matter, in October?
August 15, 200620 yr You're telling me that you'd rather play the Dodgers right now over the Mets? Or, for that matter, in October? First of all, the Mets have sustained there success for this entire season where as the Dodgers have been extremely up and down. A hot streak in August doesn't all of a sudden equate to tremendous post season success all of a sudden especially over a team that has been very consistent. The Mets' 14 game lead in the East is going to allow them to rest up very easily over the next month and a half as they get into the post season. Pedro is going to be there when the playoffs begin and he delivers in big games. Don't count him out. I just can't annoint a team who has under performed all season as definitely the favorites over the team that has been here doing it consistently since April. I picked the Dodgers to represent the NL in the World Series and you predicted what you thought would be the Mets woes pre-season and I think alot of your stance today is justifying that. The Dodgers have grown fat and happy over there winning streak off of the Nationals, Reds (who were in the middle of an 4-8 stretch), Florida, Colorado (4-5), and the Giants (0-5). The Mets have grown fat and happy off of the entire NL, consistently, and for the whole year.

The Mets can march out Pedro, Glavine, and one of the best postseason pitches of all time in El Duque (2.55 ERA in 106 postseason innings) in a short series to go along with that offense.
August 15, 200620 yr Why not? I really need to tell you why you arent getting both Wilson and Green? Yes, tell me. I don't see why it can't happen.
August 16, 200620 yr Reyes is better than Furcal. Lugo and Valentin is a draw IMO. no way. I do agree that reyes is better than furcal. I don't think JD Drew/ Endy Chavez is a draw , i'd say advantage dodgers. Furcal is a better hitter by far on the field with the glove Reyes has a bit of an advantage but with the bat Reyes is so far behind that you have to say that Furcal is the better overall; At 2nd Kent is better than Valentin, so I would say that with Lugo and Kent The Dodgers have the advantage. I like Drew but this year Chavez has played very well so I will call it even Furcal is a better hitter than Reyes? LOL Reyes is so dangerous at the plate this year and is much, much improved since last year. .299/.354/.496 (this year) vs. .273/.300/.386 (last year)

August 19, 200620 yr I'm a Dodger fan, have been all my life, always will be, but the Dodgers are not better than the Mets. The Dodgers' pen is trash and the Mets have more weapons on offense. The Dodgers did make some outstanding deadline deals and get hot enough to make the playoffs, but they're going to lose to the Mets in the playoffs (first round if they can't lock up home field advantage.)
August 19, 200620 yr The Mets and Dodgers would only meet in the first round if the Dodgers or Phillies win the wild-card (assuming the Mets hang on and finish with the best NL record). To me, still, the Dodgers have to be the 7 game favorite, with the Mets (with a healthy Pedro) the 5 game favorite. Billingsly, Penny, Lowe, Maddux > Pedro, Glavine, Maine...and pitching wins in the playoffs, just ask the Cardinals.
August 19, 200620 yr This is all irrelevant. The Giants have finally gotten hot and are on their way to taking the NL West...

He may not have the strikeouts or the low ERA but everytime he pitches it seems like we win.
August 19, 200620 yr Dodgers vs Mets Penny = Glavine Lowe < Trachsel Maddux < Pedro Billingsley ? Maine That was typed while wearing a Dodgers hat. I'm giving Penny the benefit of the doubt regarding health/stamina, and i'm really not a big fan of Billingsley. I love Maddux to death but he can't compete with Pedro when both are on their game. Hopefully he gives us a win today though.

Trachsel > Lowe  I don't see many Dodger games but I've seen enough Trachsel starts to know that he is not as good as his record says, even though he has pitched decently as of late.
