LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Dodgers aim for an 18th win in 19 games Wednesday when they conclude a three-game series against the Florida Marlins.

With their impressive surge, the Dodgers have opened a 3 1/2-game lead over the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West Division. Their latest win was a 4-0 triumph Tuesday as rookie Chad Billingsley and two relievers combined on a three-hitter.

The Dodgers give the ball to Mark Hendrickson (5-12, 4.05 ERA), who has gone just 1-5 his last nine starts. On Friday, he did not factor in a 3-2 win over the San Francisco Giants, allowing 10 hits but just two runs in seven innings.

Hendrickson beat the Marlins in Miami on August 6 after giving up three runs and six hits in six innings.

Florida starts rookie Josh Johnson (10-6, 2.69), who comes off a great performance against Arizona on Friday in which he pitched seven scoreless innings while giving up only two hits.

His previous start was against the Dodgers, and he didn't fare nearly as well. In a 10-2 loss on August 5, the righthander only last three innings, giving up five runs and eight hits.

The Dodgers are 5-0 against the Marlins this month, outscoring them by a combined 31-9.

Florida rookie Dan Uggla had his 11-game hit streak snapped in Tuesday's defeat.

Holy crap, a clutch hit! A real clutch hit! And it wasn't a over the fence either :o

They acturely put the ball in play with bases loaded and 2 outs. I am shock!

sigh, we now might need another of those rare clutch hit for the Marlins now. :(
