March 29, 200323 yr The marlins made the right choice by realeasing Martin. Look remember last year when Marty Malloy had a great spring but could not hit when the season started? Well, what if Martin would have done the same thing? The marlins would have being stuck with him and if the let him go during the season the would have to pay his salary.

I totally agree, "If" Martin was so confident in his ability then a non-guarantee for 45 days would have meant nothing. What are we talkin about here a 5th OF spot? remember Banks is the 4th OF and the top guy off the bench. We know now Martin was looking for a pay day, common how many at bats will he get in 45 days? guarantee contracts would have allow him to get pay for nothing. Why not earn Martin? why???

March 30, 200323 yr Name one season Marty Malloy has actually offered any truly positive contributions for a team. Then do the same for Al Martin. Who even brought up this Malloy vs Martin comparsion.... It makes no sense from the start.
