College Football Best Bets Week 1

Featured Replies

Well we're starting a new season and those who followed me last year knew i did alright but didnt hit my stride till the end of the season.....Well here's my week 1 selections with the spread.

Iowa State (-8) vs. Toledo -- Iowa State faded down the stretch last season but will start out hot. Their offense is high powered and will score more then enough to match Toledo......Iowa State -8 and small play on the over

Temple (+6) @ Buffalo -- Pure biasness here but I love the Owls chances....Al Golden's leading them to three wins. Take the Owls!!!

Tennessee (-1) vs. California -- The seat under Phil Fullmer is so hot that they can't lose this game. I just think they have more talent then Cal and the lack of experience at QB for Cal will be their downfall. Take the Vols

Florida (-20) vs. Southern Mississippi -- How is this not a bigger line...Southern Miss' offense was dreadful last year and they lost Almond. Florida's got something to prove. Take the Gators

Auburn (-14.5) vs. Wazzu -- Another SEC/PAC-10 line i don't get. Take the Tigers

Record: 1-0-1 so far ISU loss, over win, Temple push

1. Ehh it's a close call, but I wouldn't call it a best bet.

3. No

I really like Tennessee this year.....underachieved greatly last year and from a pure talent standpoint, they've got more then Cal.

I dont like your third pick either. I would actually stay away from that game because i have no idea how it will go. Tenn could be very good this year, or they could be terrible like last year. Cal may win the pac 10

The pac 10 is such crap, and Cal (much like every other 'contender' in the pac 10) was horrendously overrated last season.

My knee-jerk reaction is to take the Vols to beat any spread they come up, despite the fact that they sucked ass last season.

That's because Iowa State always fades down the stretch.. they blow their load against us in their super bowl then turn to crap. They should beat Toledo handedly, as they have big weapons on offense.. but god, I can't wait until we play them this year.

Lemme add the Temple/Buffalo 2h!!!!

loss and win....notice the small play on the over....

I used to gamble a lot and honestly I was successful.

Anyway, I do love the Tennessee pick! Stick to your guns, my brother goes there right now and says they are pumped and ready to have a big year. Remember Tennessee had the #1 recruiting class just 2 years ago! SO MUCH TALENT there! Go for it!

As for Southern Miss....stay away from. They are supposed to be improved this year.

I dont know much about college football but Im an action guy so I have a few questions:

Who is the resident college football wager guru on the board?

What was his record last year?

What is the boards feelings on the Notre Dame game?

Thanks

I really like Georgia Tech....The key to the game is Reggie Ball though...kid looks like gangbusters sometimes....other times he throws more passes to the other team then his own. If he can get the ball to Calvin Johnson, this game will be in Tech's favor.

The better bet in the game is over.....these two will move the ball back and forth.

I have three college football games today, really like the card -

Arky State (+5) against Army

SMU (+26) against Texas Tech

Nebraska (-23.5) against La. Tech

I also had Nevada +12 against Fresno State last night to start off 1-0 in the college football season. :thumbup

3-1 to start the college football year off. Can't wait till next Saturday but to tie me over I've got a nice 3 star play (my system is based on 4 stars, 4 being the strongest play) on Monday. Taking the Miami Hurricanes (-3) against FSU.

Nice job on your picks, FishFanInPA. Hope you don't mind me using your thread to put my picks in.

go for it....we can compete for MB.com College Football gambling experts.

4-1-1 for the 1st week is good....pondering a play on Sunday.
