Terminator 4

Featured Replies

Over the next few years, MGM is planning to release half a dozen films, some in the $150 million to $200 million-plus range. Studio is ready to unveil such high-profile projects as "Terminator 4"; one or two installments of "The Hobbit," which Sloan hopes will be directed by Peter Jackson; and a sequel to "The Thomas Crown Affair" with Pierce Brosnan.

I wonder what the premise behind T4 will be. Everything I've heard was that it'd be the Future War and there'd be a bunch of different Terminators roaming around for both sides. It could be pretty cool, but who knows.

I think a Future War would kick ass.

That's what I'm sayin!

I hated the ending to 3. I mean, it was such a cliffhanger.

I don't even care if Arnold doesn't come back. I liked the chemistry that Stahl and Daines had.

i loved the ending to 3...and loathed that stahl was even considered for john connor...im sorry...i see nick stahl as the kid from the man without a face...not a merciless robot killer...but i agree...a future war would rock

I couldn't see it either, but I think he did a pretty good job. He's got that sullen, kinda depressed rebellness about him.

What do you mean, you hated the ending? You knew it was going to happen. They gave it away in the title. Besides, Arnold shouldn't be in it. If this is the beginning of the Future Wars, then there would just be the endo skeletons. No skin.

You know a future war would suck because more doesn't mean better. One terminator is cool but when you start adding alot more, it just waters it all down. That classic example is Alien. The first movie rocked and its cuz there was one Alien. But in the sequels they added more and more and it's not as engaging.

Well read that sentence in context. Obviously I didn't hate it because it was bad. I hated it because it made me want more. Maybe hate was too strong of a word.

I bradcored it.

I think the thing that gets me is the lengthy progression of the series. I mean, the first one was in 1984, and they actually stuck to the storyline. How many series that long stay true to the chronology?

22 years and counting, and we've been following the story all this time.

Aliens > Alien

I wonder if Arnold will be in T4 at all, and if he is would they wait until he is out of office before beginning to shooting it?

If they start from the beginning of the future war, I doubt we would see the T-1000 models of terminators yet.

It's more likely that we would see those somewhat primitive looking T-1's or whatever that were shown in T3.

I agree that you don't need to have Arnold in T4 in order to make the film as well. Computer graphics can cover for his absence.

Ya Arnold isn't necessary at all. The story has its own wings now and its own staying power IMO.

Like I said, I really liked the on screen chemistry between Claire Daines and Nick Stahl.

No badassness from Arnold + no cheesy one liners like "i'll be back" = no interest in the movie.

Terminator 4 co-writer Michael Ferris has given Entertainment Weekly a hint about what we can expect from the next installment. First, however, he addressed the questions on whether Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back.

"'Terminator 3' kind of closed the book on Schwarzenegger, as did his gubernatorial career," said Ferris, who wrote the fourth film with John Brancato.

Another missing element is producer Gale Anne Hurd, who worked on the first three films and is not involved, and "T3" director Jonathan Mostow has yet to sign on (he'll be busy adapting Marvel's Sub-Mariner for a while).

As far as plot points, Ferris offered this tease: "You will learn about Skynet and what that postapolyptic future is like."

Well, in the initial Terminator movie Reese referred to the original Terminators (the models predating T-100) that the initial terminators were robot exoskeletons covered with rubber skin that could be discerned from a mile away, whereas the new T-100s had real skin, blood, etc. That said, I wonder what kind of terminators we'll see. I'd love to see more of those flying machines though, those things pwned.

agreed

I'd like to see Nick Stahl get more roles. He was awesome in HBO's Carnivale.

I say they should bring him back for T4, especially since it looks like it takes place after the end of T3.

Definitely, he played the role of outlaw Connor to perfection.

That's exactly what I was gonna post when I read Jimmy's opinion of Stahl. Jimmy, and everyone else for that matter, should check out Carnivale. If you're interested in the fantasy genre, watch this series.

Speaking of Fantasy, isn't anyone else excited by a Hobbit movie???

Stahl was good but I cannot imagine the Terminator without Arnold.

I definitely can. For newer gen fans, Arnold isn't as important to the series. Plus, he just doesn't have time to do it.

I think its safe to say Arnold is done with acting.
