September 12, 200619 yr Do the injuries to Liriano and Papelbon give the award to Verlander??? He's been a stud all season long...Liriano may make a couple more starts while Papelbon is done.....Who gets the award now?
September 12, 200619 yr If Liriano comes back and pitches the Twins into the playoffs (perhaps ahead of the Tigers :mischief2), then it's Liriano, hands down. Hell, as it is I think it's Liriano.
September 12, 200619 yr Gotta throw Weaver's name in there too I think I'd say: 1. Verlander (27 starts, 16 wins) 2. Liriano 3. Weaver 4. Papelbon With that being said, if Liriano comes back and pitches them into the division lead, it would be hard to turn him down. He's so damn good.. best rookie pitcher out there.. its just hard to look away from that 27 GS by Verlander.
September 12, 200619 yr I think you have to give it to Verlander because of Liriano's injury absence.
September 12, 200619 yr Papelbon is having a top 5 season for a closer of all time. (Still don't know who I'd give it to)
September 12, 200619 yr I think Verlander should win it. He has been steady all year long same can be said about Papelbon though, I just dont think Liriano should get it due to his injury problems
September 12, 200619 yr Yea, you can't really use injuries as an excuse against the award, Verlander has been consistant and has been there when the team has needed him, Liriano did good and then gets injured.
September 12, 200619 yr If Verlander stumbles and Weaver gets to 14 or 15 wins and keeps his ERA in the low 2.00s I think he could win it.
