I'd agree with Lefty's categories, except maybe...

 

Top Tier: Katherine, Taylor, Mandisa

 

Middle: Elliot, Paris, Kellie, Chris

 

Bottom: Kevin, Bucky, Lisa, Ace

 

 

It really seems like it all comes down to song selection at some point. With a couple of exceptions, all these people can show off their vocals with a good song but it also can't be boring... Paris and Elliot are perfect examples. Both can sing their asses off, but with a poor song choice they wind up looking bad. Last night both made good choices.

Elliot could go, but he doesn't deserve it. He's my favorite of the guys. He seems to be kind of a singer's singer, in that he takes on difficult songs and sings them well. But I'm not sure he's doing a good job choosing songs that the audience wants to hear.

 

Katharine is my favorite contestant ever.

 

I'm watching Kellie right now and seriously, WTF is up with her makeup? It looks like she had an allergic reaction of something.

While we all knew he would not be long for the show, I definitely thought Bucky and Lisa at least deserved to go more than him tonight.

It definitely sucks when you have preconceived notions about a 16 year old kid...Judging on singing voice, Kevin was light years ahead of both Lisa and Bucky.

I don't think Kevin's light years ahead of Lisa. Lisa can sing, she just has no personality and sucks at song choice.

 

Kevin has personality, but it happens to be that of an annoying little dweeb.

 

Actually I shouldn't say that, he's not annoying, but as Simon mentioned I think only senior citizens would want to listen to his stuff.

Ok maybe not light years. But ya, Lisa aint' gonna cut it. Lucky for her, she's still very young and can improve.

Absolutely, I think if she were maybe 25 she'd have a much better idea of what it would take to win this competition.

he was by far the worst out of the bunch and has absolutely no future as a recording artist - maybe doing voice work or something

 

the kid had a pretty decent personality and is outgoing enough that he'll be fine in life - but singing shouldn't be his bag

Taylor was the only good one so far. His vocals were great and it was REFRESHING to see that he's not just a fun and dance act, but actually has a great voice.

I assume they realize they are running behind schedule (10 songs in one hour), so they must have told him to basically say the phone number as fast as possible and usher the contestant off stage.

First off, that show was ridiculous tonight. The whole time it was like, "GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO!!! GO!!!!!!!!!!" Good TV in a trainwreck kind of way. Bad TV otherwise. I mean, they should've just had the judges hold up numbers, that's how useless most of their comments were, considering they each had about 5 seconds to speak. And the performances barely got started before they were done.

 

People have been calling Chris one-dimensional from the beginning of time. It's nothing new. Last week, Simon decided this meant he was "uncompromising". This week he's boring. Go figure.

 

I'm still in love with Katherine McPhee. She wasn't the best tonight, but I'd put her in the Top 4 for sure...with Paris, Taylor, and Elliot.

 

Elliot's just a cool dude.

 

I don't know how many people are familiar with Taylor's song choice, but the second I saw what he'd chosen, I said out loud, "oh, hell yes". Perfect song choice for him, and he did a great job with it.

 

Paris continues to be irritating as hell. I'm pretty sure she's actually so void of personality that she's filled that void in with as much bulls*** as possible. In the same way that she has no style so she just comes out every week and looks ridiculous in a completely different way. However, the truth is that she can sing, and she's been improving very rapidly after going through a prolonged stretch of crappiness.

 

My guess is that Lisa goes home tomorrow, but I was way off last week, so my opinion can't mean all that much.

Bucky is anomaly. He shouldn't be in the top 10. He shouldn't have been in the top 50.

I can't believe Chris did a song from Creed. Well yes I can, but anyway... probably Lisa going bye-bye tonight.

 

I thought Ace picked a good song for his voice but once again just doesn't stand out enough.
