October 10, 200322 yr a lot of it hangs on the stadium issue too.... The stadium is far better than it is made out to be. I think he may be reffering to the lease with the stadium.
October 10, 200322 yr If you want to spread your fan base - first you have to ACQUIRE one. Fair weather fans don't get it done. You need passionate maniacs! :thumbup This is a slap to us Sox fans too, further proving the Fish and ChiSox have similarities... we are seen as "bad fans" because we don't pack the park every night... the reality is, Sox games are not a novelty like Cubs games are. We don't get casual fans, our fans actually *know* the players on the roster. And our fans only show up when our ownership cares to put a winning team on the field.
October 10, 200322 yr For one I can't believe that Brave's fans are rooting for the cubs. I mean the way they made fun of them. But ok here it goes...(my rant) How can they just assume that every fan of baseball likes the cubs? Maybe casual fans and sports reporters because its a good story, but I have to remind everyone something... The Chicago Whitesox fans HATE the cubs... The St. Louis Cardinals fans HATE the cubs... The Houston Astro fans dislike the cubs... ok every team in the NL central dislikes the cubs (except for the pirates of course who are the pitsburg new born bears.) The people that like the cubs are as follows... Cub fans the most dispicable people on the face of the earth. I know I shouldn't say this and will prlly be flamed for it...but Santo...Im glad that he is in the hospital and not being able to see the cubs in the post season. Those not from the midwest don't understand, but those from around here understand that Cub fans are really lower class life forms.) People who aren't really a true fan of any team. Just kinda turn on baseball when there is nothing else on. And they watch the cubs because of WGN. and fans of teams that hate the opposing team...Now I consider this the wild card alot of people don't want to like the Marlins because of the fire sell. It just proved what was wrong with baseball today...with no salary cap you can buy yourself a WS. Thats my rant.
October 10, 200322 yr The only way we will get 25k plus every marlins game is if it goes downtown and the Tri-Rail runs right next to it . I think fans are primarily lost because of logistics. I live in Port St. Lucie and have gone to 26+ home games and would go to double that if the Tri-Rail ran to the stadium .
October 10, 200322 yr You need passionate maniacs! Like all the passionate Yankee fans all across this country that haven't even sniffed Yankee Stadium, much less stepped foot in New York City. Face it, there are just as many Yankee Bandwagon jumpers as there are Marlins jumpers. :censored
