When does spring training start? and where?

Marlins Spring Training takes place at Roger Dean Stadium baseball complex in Jupiter, Florida.

 

Practices begin this weekend: Pitchers and catchers are due to report on Saturday the 17th, position players on the 19th, and full-squad work-outs starting on the 21st. Admission to these is free.

 

The first official Spring Training game is on Feb. 27, with the Marlins playing against the University of Miami at 3:05 PM in Jupiter. Admission to the games ranges between $10-$25, depending on the day and where you sit.

You can also take the Florida Turnpike north to PGA Blvd. (Exit 109). Then go EAST (left turn off of Turnpike off-ramp) on PGA Blvd. to Central Blvd. Go NORTH (left turn off of PGA Blvd.) on Central Blvd to the large traffic circle inside Abacoa. Go LEFT on the traffic circle to Main Street. Go WEST on Main Street (right turn) until you see the stadium. Park in the parking garage across the street for free.

 

The Turnpike/Central Blvd. route is a great backdoor route into the stadium and it's the one I take all the time.

I will bring my digital camera for the practices and my sisters photography camera for the games. I can't wait!!!!

i will take the us 98-military route to the stadium, since military goes very close to the stadium. just turn left at donald ross road and right at central or at fau to get to the stadium.

That's the route to take if you love traffic lights and construction!

hey, i live closer to belle glade than downtown. that's the only route i can take, unless i want to get on the traffic infested 95. at that point, i might as well take the us 1.

Why don't you just take Southern to the Turnpike and then just follow my directions. I live closer to Wellington than downtown (off of Jog and Hypoluxo) and get on the Turnpike at Lake Worth Road, so it's not like I'm near downtown either.

 

I'll be there tomorrow with my kids (Saturday is Cardinals day, we really got to know a lot of the Palm Beach Cardinals last season, and my son loves the bright red uniforms). It's our traditional first Saturday of spring where we take a ton of pictures, get their "Cardinals A to Z" book autographed, and then have lunch at J.J. Muggs. We'll return on Monday for "Marlins Day".

You can also take the Florida Turnpike north to PGA Blvd. (Exit 109). Want a quicker and easier route? I take the turnpike north to PGA, exit east to Military Trail, head north (immediatly get in left lane) and hop on 95 to Donald Ross, exit east to the first entrance. Takes you right to the west side parking area entrance for the stadium. ( Living in Greenacres, I also get on at Lake Worth Road, BTW)

Of course if it is a week day game and you are taking 95 I could reccommend a great mom and pop type sandwhich shop just off 95 at Blue Heron in that industrial area. I found it because one of my wholesalers is near it. All Boars Head meats and cheeses, large sandwhiches, home-made desserts, and great prices. Unfortunetly they are closed on the week ends.

What I am interested in seeing is how the new entrance/exit ramps at Bee Line affect the traffic getting on at PGA after the games. It has been quicker to head north on 95 to the next exit (Indiantown) and then head back south on the turnpike. That back-up getting on at PGA was always rediculous(sp) and time consuming. Of course now with the construction at PGA/turnpike intersection it could be worse.

Something important I forgot to mention: the annual ArtiGras street festival is this weekend. Those of you planning to go to the practices, be prepared for a lot of traffic and closed streets in the surrounding neighborhood.

Just kinda thinking out loud.

That route is insanity. There is no point going all the way UP to Okeechobee (City) to get on the Beeline and drive that to Military (especially when the Bee Line intersects with PGA Boulevard).

 

Judging by Furcalchick's routes, it looks like she lives in either Royal Palm or Wellington. There are so many other alternatives to driving on Military Trail (go through the acreage to Northlake, take 441 to Okeechobee then head east from there, etc.). However, to each his own, I'll just keep taking the Turnpike up to PGA.

She said she lives closer to Belle Glade than to downtown and I don't consider Wellington or Royal Palm closer. IMO, to think so would be insanity, to use your choice of words. I suppose we could mince words on it but I see no point in it. My route was from the Belle Glade area.

I also like the route of going through the Acreage to Northlake if you were in the Royal Pam area but not many people are even aware of that route unless they live near the area or use a map. I actually use that route quite often when I am in that area and need to get north of 45th or to the turnpike to get even further north. 441 to Okeechobee is fine if the turnpike is your destination (all the way to I95 that way is time consuming and traffic laden), but her family likes the back way and that way leads to the heart of construction on Military, Okeechobee to 45th.

My preferred route is the turnpike from Lake Worth Road to PGA, to Military, to I95, etc. Coming home is a little different because of the time of day and the construction at PGA and the turnpike. Haven't been there during rush hour since the opening of the ramps at the Bee Line, but I can imagine it hasn't improved much. Maybe once the new construction is done.

Just a quick question about the Spring Training practices. Do they practice everyday? I would love to go up to Roger Dean on Saturday and check the boys out but since I would be coming from Coral Springs, I'd rather make sure they are there first.

That's why I was asking. I work Monday-Friday and am going to have a hardtime making it out to Spring Training games. I really wanted to catch them when they are at Ft Lauderdale stadium taking on the Orioles but they do not play them on the weekend. No worries, I will make it up there this weekend and also out to some weekend games once they start.

update: going friday instead, better overall personally for me, and it's still kinda cold. and btw, we don't take southern. we take ochkechobee. i couldn't spell the word previously, so i put in southern instead. we sometimes go to northlake to miltary or the 95. but we really don't like the interstate unless we are going out of town.

Is there anywhere that lists what games will be on the radio? I know alot of the games wont be on TV, but normally more then a few are on the radio and all.
