February 16, 200917 yr Huge Scotch fan here. If I started a separate thread would there be enough legitimate interest? I'm also a big scotch fan although I'm not sure there would be much interest in a separate thread. We do have Schnellders here though to educate us some on what he knows from his home country. This is my scotch of choice:

February 16, 200917 yr i used to be really into scotch, but for the past 5 years or so i'm pretty much exclusively bourbon and other related american styles for my whiskey consumption
February 25, 200917 yr So I've decided to go dry for lent. I am getting married in may, so this is a good opportunity to shed some some lbs before then. I am currently on day 10 (I was sick last week so I decided to start lent early). So far so good... I'm probably going to brew a sick batch of home brew next weekend which will be ready as soon as my drought ends. Any suggestions?

I'll have to make it next sunday if I want that to happen. BTW 14 days in the books
March 1, 200917 yr Nice going Jetsmania, I wish I had that in me. And congrats on getting married too.
March 1, 200917 yr Well I'd actually like the beer to be ready after lent. I'll have to make it next sunday if I want that to happen. BTW 14 days in the books How much weight have you lost? These are the last two new beers I've had, btw: The first was Echt Kriekenbier- Very strong on the cherries, definitely say this is a different type beer if you want to try something new. It was almost like I was drinking a nice cherry champagne. Not sure I'd get it again but I'm glad I tried it. Next was a Belgium beer, Rader Blonde ale, which is infused with gin flavors aka juniper bush. Strange combo and this was another that you don't feel like you are drinking beer. Very different from anything out there, the girl I was with said it smelled like Rosemary which works about right. Same as the first beer, I'm glad I tried it because it's so unique but I probably wouldn't order it again.
March 2, 200917 yr Nice going Jetsmania, I wish I had that in me. And congrats on getting married too. Thanks. 14 days is the longest I've gone in 6 years. Sunday-Thursday are easy to get through, especially since there is no football. Friday and Saturday is tough. Well I'd actually like the beer to be ready after lent. However, I can tell that I've lost some. I figured I was pulling in about 2,000 calories a week in beer, which I've cut out. I've also been walking about 20 miles a week which probably burns about 2,000 or so.
March 4, 200917 yr Beer is an integral part of society. It's not going anywhere. Beer actually predates writing. I am currently on day 17. I'm not going crazy craving my beer, but I do miss it.

I'll toast to you tonight when I'm drinking a tasty, cold St. Bernardus abt 12 at PRL. :thumbup Where the hell did you go for a year Bradcore?
March 4, 200917 yr Aside from IGN on slow days at work, I just got sick of the whole message board thing all together. I got totally bored with it. So what's happened in the year and a half I've been away? I severely cut back on my drinking. Cut out most of my junk food and have gotten into eating healthy and exercising fairly regularly. I've begun attending an Lutheran church. I spent some time down in Texas to visit my best friend who I don't get to see too often. He got married this summer. I got him and his wife a $160 bottle of of 15 year old wine. I went out and got to see some of my favorite bands live, Megadeth and Ozzy Osbourne (saw my absolute favorite, Judas Priest, back in '05). Went to a few TNA shows. Met AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels at a house show and got their autographs. At TNA Lockdown last year (me and my friends were front row center), I got to meet Alex Shelly, Chris Sabin, Roxxi, So Cal Val, Black Machismo and Sonjay Dutt and got their autographs as well. Also been getting myself out of debt. My credit is actually rather good, I've just got some debt to pay off for being stupid when I was younger. I've also spent time writing my congressmen and senators regarding political issues (and I've never given a damn about politics). But mostly, I've been working and hanging with friends. To be honest, though, there's a reason I showed up. The other day, I busted my sunglasses (I've had them for probably 9 years) when I accidentally slammed my house door into my own face. Don't ask. I've gone over a hundred times in my head and even tried to recreate it an attempt to figure out just how the hell I did it. I'm still baffled. Anyhow, I remembered there was a dude on here who had a business where he sold sunglasses. And there being no sunglasses shop in my area, I wanted to peruse his selection. However, I can't remember for the life of me who he was.
March 16, 200917 yr Day 30 I cannot believe I've gone this long. I am going to have two or three Rochefort 10's March 29th.

Not sure, I never weighed myself. However, people have noticed. I also noticed that I went a notch lower on my belt. So instead of ending the drought with Rocherfort 10, I decided to split a 6 pack of Westvletern 12 (finest beer in the world) with 2 other people. You can get it on ebay for about $115 including shipping.

March 20, 200917 yr I hope to visit all of the Trappist breweries not too far into the future. I think I'll hold out until then.
March 20, 200917 yr I hope to visit all of the Trappist breweries not too far into the future. I think I'll hold out until then. I literally just had this conversion with a friend of mine. I told him we should go to Belgium (and the Netherlands, 1 of the 7 is there) and visit all of the breweries. We then would each bring back 2 cases of westy and sell half of them on ebay. The average 6 pack goes for about $100. That would pay for the plane ticket.
