April 9, 201016 yr Sorry if the answer to this question is contained within the previous 30 pages. Where does everyone buy good American craft brews in Miami? I live in Kendall and the best place I've seen is Sunset Corners on 72nd St and 87th Ave. They have a very good selection but it seems it could still be better and I'm running out of things to try. Any suggestions? Crown Wine and Spirits 1590 South Dixie Highway (next to Sunset Place) They have a nice selection, best I've seen in Miami.
April 9, 201016 yr So Harpoon just came out with an Island Creek Oyster Stout. I may pick it up today. I'm not sure if I'm ready for animals in my beer. It got killer ratings on ratebeer. I'm going to pick up a bottle of Harpoon Catamount Maple Wheat tonight.

April 14, 201016 yr When I was in Hawaii I had every beer offered by the Kona Brewing company and they were all mediocre to bad. One of my friends brought over a 6-pack Wailua Wheat Ale the other night and I forced myself to give it a try last night. It was surprisingly good and refreshing. There is a definite note of passion fruit that gives this beer a unique flavor compared to the other mass produced wheats on the market. It's worth a shot if you see it on the shelves of your local grocery store. Cheers!
April 16, 201016 yr So I just bought a beer called the Kaiser. Its an imperial oktoberfest. It was on sale, so I picked it up at 6.99 (down $3). It comes in a just under 10%. I've only had a few ounces so far, but this baby packs a punch. http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/avery-the-kaiser-imperial-oktoberfest/37740/ Arrogant Bastard has a new beer that I also picked up.
August 19, 201016 yr I can't believe I let this go for 4 months without a new post. The nice things about August ending (besides the return of football season) is that all the Oktoberfests are back!
August 21, 201016 yr I just finished a bottle of St. Bernadrus 12. This is truely a wonderful beer. A few weeks ago a friend of mine and I had a beer playoff. We bought 8 beers and randomly paired them off against each other in a taste test. The candidates were: Trappist Rocherfort 10 St. Bernardus 12 Siberian Night Arrogant Bastard Chimay Grand Reserve La Fin Du Monde Ommegang Three Philosphers Rocherfort 10 ended up defeating Siberian Night in my finals. The most disappointing beer was three philosophers. It was actually terrible compared to the other 7.
August 21, 201016 yr How on god's green earth did i not see this thread before? god i love beer. I have a buddy coming in to town from DC this weekend and he's brining me back 4 cases of Yuengling.. can't wait. That will make me a very happy man. Bent River Uncommon Stout is my favorite beer though... soooooooooooo delicious.

Bent River Uncommon Stout is my favorite beer though... soooooooooooo delicious. I go back and forth with Yuengling. Since its not available in my area I get excited when I can get my hands on some. Midway through the case it starts getting bland. If it was always available I might not like it as much. With that said, I still get friends who are coming from NY or Jersey to bring me a case when they come to visit me. Anyone had the Sam Adams Latitude 48? For some reason it is only available in the summer mix pack. That beer kicks some major ass. I do not know why they dont sell it on its own.
August 22, 201016 yr After reading 14 pages of this thread during the game, I've just realized how limited my experience with beer is. I've taken down a couple of beers that you've all mentioned that I thought sounded fun. I'm thinking of mixing and matching a six-pack. 1. Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale (is this in season now?) 2. Left Hand Milk Stout 3. Youngs Double Chocolate Stout Does anyone have any more suggestions? I don't care for anything too strong!
August 22, 201016 yr I love that Yuengling is available at like every grocery store up here. It's my go-to brand, so when the wife is out getting groceries she knows it's a safe bet to pick up some. It can get a little old though, as most beers do if I stick with them for too long. Fortunately there are plenty of options out there to discover. I have not tried the Sam Latitude 48 IPA, or at least not that I can recall.... I will be on the lookout now though.

Now it's pretty much the Mid-Atlantic...and Florida. A couple of years ago I was traveling though coal country and went by the headquarters in Pottsville. It's a nice little town.

Let us know what kind of beer you like and I'm sure you'll get a nice list of suggestions. If you can get your hands on Thirsty Dog Siberian Night it will be the last stout you drink again. Its a 10% beer that hides its strength very well. A few of those and you'll be feeling good. I had two last week and then ran out. All I had left was Guinness. After have two Siberian Nights I had to pour out the Guinness because it tasted like bilge water. The pumpkin ale should be in session in a few weeks. Shipyard makes smashed pumpkin beer thats pretty good and quite strong (9%).

What types of beers that you've already tasted do you like the best? That will give us some idea of what kinds of styles you prefer. I'm open to any and all suggestions as long as the beer isn't strong. With more experience I should be able to narrow down my taste. I've basically tried whatever anyone has brought to a party or social gathering so basically it's Budweiser, Miller, Corona, Heineken, Coors, Natural Ice etc. Of what I've tried in the past I don't care for Natural Ice or Coors at all. I like Corona. Budweiser, Miller, and Heineken are passable. I tried Yuengling once and I liked it and today I had Blue Moon (whichever is currently in season) and I liked that as well. Of what you guys have mentioned and what has been recommended, can I buy these beers in any store or do they have to be specialty? Of what I've read I know some are hard to come by but of the 3 I'm interested in and the one Jetsmania mentioned, can I purchase those just anywhere? Thanks for the replies!

Crown Liquor has the best selection. There are various locations in Miami. The one I go to is on US1 near Sunset Place. Sadly, they do not carry Siberian Night. Your beer tastes will change. When I first started drinking beer I only like Coors Light. Then I started trying other things. When I drink Coors Light now it tastes like water. Oktoberfests are coming out next week. Give Lowenbrau, Spatan (my favorite), Paulaner and Sam Adams all a chance.
November 16, 201114 yr I've found a nice bitter one that I've really come to love by the guys who make Arrogant Bastard called Ruination. It's so good.
November 17, 201114 yr I've recently begun appreciating beer more. I haven't ventured too far into the exotic, but I did really like the Sam Adams Octoberfest I got before the Winter Ales came in.
November 17, 201114 yr Cigar City's Jai Alai IPA  I'll tell you one thing, Cigar City makes some dam good beers. I hope they start coming up to the northeast. Everytime I go to Miami, I make sure to get a hold of their porter. As for Sam, their Oktoberfest was excellent this year. Much better than last year. I picked up some Winter for the Jets game today, so I'll see how it compares to last year.
