April 10, 200719 yr as each telecast has done, they flashback 10 years to the day and summarize the game played that day and relive Marlin history. Well 10 years ago today Alex Fernendez pitched (if not) the best game of his career and time with the fish as he threw a 1 hitter, along with no WALKS, against the Cubs at Wrigley. April 10, 200719 yr Author just a note. that lineup isnt bad what-so-ever but when you also consider Zaun was backup to a prime Charles Johnson, that lineup was deadly
April 10, 200719 yr I still never get over how stacked that lineup was. You'll be saying the same thing about our current lineup 10 years from now. :cool

It's amazing that they weren't a lot better.

It's amazing that they weren't a lot better. Not everyone, Alou and Bobby both hit about .300 and Alou drove in 115 or so. The only real underachiever was Sheffy. Actually, that lineup was unspectacular. Sheff had a down year, though he was still dangerous and lead the team in OPS. Only 4 players had a better than .800 OPS, none better than .870. Devon White was anything but dangerous (ever), Conine struggled the whole year, Renteria was not the player he became later. The team won on bench and bullpen. If the Marlins could manage 3 runs, they won the game, and that was how they got it done. BTW, Alex Fernandez had a perfect game into the 9th until a lame-ass slow roller that just wasn't handled. Good times!
April 10, 200719 yr That game was played in snow flurries. And if I remember correctly that lone hit came VERY late in the game. Alex was working on the franchise's 2nd no-no. Any way to look that up and see if my memory is correct or if I am suffering fron another bout of CRS?

Any way to look that up and see if my memory is correct or if I am suffering fron another bout of CRS? You're correct on both counts. Every once in a while I get lucky. LOL I do remember watching the start of that game and thinking that here's a Florida boy playing in cold and snowy conditions and not expecting too much.
April 11, 200719 yr I remember when that game started they were talking about how fernandez had previously pitched well in cold games. By the way White was hurt almost the entire year. I do remember he hit a nice grand slam in the division series game 3 against the giants.

Kind of hard to have a perfect game when there were 3 errors on the board before that inning even started. i think you meant no-hitter.
