October 15, 200322 yr If wish I had his name and address just so that I could right him a letter in support. He needs some friends now. I feel terrible for him. this was the lead segment on the Today Show this morning and Matt Lauer said that the Cubs security had to give that fan a change of clothes so that he wouldn't be recognized on his way home. That's just horrible. I was listening to the local sports shows this morning (in St. Louis) and Cardinals fans were calling in to offer that Cubs fan dinner if he ever makes it down to St. Louis. They were also offering their suggestions on what he should do. The host of the show said he should pull a "Forest Gump" and just get in his car and go. Pack up and get out now.
October 15, 200322 yr what's funny is that even if he hadn't touched the ball it wasn't a given that Alou would catch it.

All I know is that guy is welcome to throw out the first pitch at Opening Day at Comiskey Park next spring. I am a White Sox/American League fan first and foremost, but the Fish are beginning to creep into my heart. I might have to root for a national league team in the World Series for the first time in my 25 years if the Fish can pull it out tonight. GO FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 15, 200322 yr My friend knows the guy in the gray sweater who was next to the kid.... Chicago media is brutal! She said that they interviewed him on the news and they asked if he knew the fan. He said no. Then they asked him why he was trying to catch the ball and the guy didn't say anything. Geez, I am sure they would've tried to catch it to! Jerks!!
October 15, 200322 yr lol, found a funny thought on ESPN.com..... The guy was listening to the game on the radio, right? Seriously, blame the radio guys for not yelling out "Don't touch that ball!!" ... rofl
October 15, 200322 yr The fan is actually my buddy (I live in Chicago). He's already been mauled by fans, as well as the attack dogs the Tribune Company recruited.

October 16, 200322 yr The fan is actually my buddy (I live in Chicago). He's already been mauled by fans, as well as the attack dogs the Tribune Company recruited. If you really do know him, tell him that honestly, this Cardinals fan will say a special prayer for him and he is in my thoughts. Tell him that many fans everywhere feel terrible for him and wish him the best in life.
October 16, 200322 yr Bartman coaches a team in my hometown and i work at the batting cages, so i know ive seen him before, and he probably even ask me what was goin on in the cubs game acouple times and i would always say that they were goin to blow it like usual. But he has free batting cages for life from me at least.
