May 1, 200719 yr Sun-Sentinel: Dolphins waive Wright, Vick, and Iwuchukwu Sun-Sentinel.com Posted May 1 2007, 5:28 PM EDT The Dolphins waived defensive tackle Manny Wright, wide receiver Marcus Vick and linebacker Bobby Iwuchukwu on Tuesday. Wright, who missed all of last season on the reserve/nonfootball injury list dealing with depression, was taken by the Dolphins in the fifth-round of the 2005 supplemental draft. He played in three games in his rookie season and recorded four tackles and a sack. Click here to find out more! LocalLinks New coach Cam Cameron had called Wright to encourage him to come to last month's minicamp, but Wright reported to minicamp overweight. Wright famously walked off the field in tears after getting chewed out by then-coach Nick Saban during a 2005 training camp practice. Vick split his rookie season of 2006 on the practice squad and 53-man roster after having signed with the team as an undrafted college free agent. He played in one game. The younger brother of Falcons quarterback Michael Vick is being sued by a teenager who says they had a two-year affair while Vick was at Virginia Tech. Iwuchukwu was signed by the Dolphins this offseason after splitting his rookie season on the practice squads of San Francisco and Baltimore. Can't say I'm not puzzled about releasing these guys this early.
May 1, 200719 yr If someone has the time and patience, Manny Wright is gonna be one hell of a DT for some NFL team. The dude just needs to man up cause he is a beast when he plays.
May 1, 200719 yr LMAO The official Dolphins web site has a Marcus Vick mini-helmet up for auction on its main page. LOL
May 1, 200719 yr I think it's been pretty clear that Cam Cameron doesn't want any of these potential problems around. I will be pretty surprised if Ricky Williams is wearing a Dolphins uniform next year.

At first I was thinking that Ricky would be a nice addition to this team but with the drafting of Booker, I think we will have the Rams' 5th round pick next season instead of Ricky.

I will be pretty surprised if Ricky Williams is wearing a Dolphins uniform next year. I think you're right. This probably had a lot to do with avoiding potential problems. I don't think it was simply about getting rid of the dregs. CC seemed to show in this draft that he values character a good deal.
May 2, 200719 yr Vick's a character issue that's gone and I think the drafting of Lorenzo Book shows Williams is also going to be gone.
May 2, 200719 yr wright actually wanted to GTFO. i remember when he was essentially begging to be traded / cut loose.
May 2, 200719 yr I dont see either one really panning out in the nfl anyway, yea they were great projects but good riddance.
May 2, 200719 yr Ricky should be gone with the addition of Booker. I'm not sure I see a reason for him to be here now. It'll only stunt Ronnie's growth anyway.

It'll only stunt Ronnie's growth anyway. because he is a hell of a back at the league minium and if ronnie gets hurt booker isnt ready to be a number 1 type back. He is a nice scat back but with 2 years in a row of injuries to ronnie you dont just move a pro bowl back for nothing.

May 2, 200719 yr Just more evidence of the effect Goodell is having on this league. I approve. Goodell sucks so far. I really dislike him and what he is doing. Why do football players need to be role model citizens to make the sport better? The Pac Man Jones ruling was absurd.

These people are getting paid millions to play a kids sport they should be held to a higher standard.

What exactly is the higher standard these guys need to be held to? They are roided up physical specimens who are cheered, worshiped and paid millions to hit and be violent on the football field. What exactly are the guidelines that they should be held to?
May 2, 200719 yr They should be held to whatever standard the people who've put this product together deem correct. The players are employees, and like any employees of any other business, they can get fired for behaving in a way that reflects poorly on the company. Goodell is doing exactly what he should be doing.

Try to hold down a regular job with as many run ins with the law as some of these people have had. I don't think having players come up against consequences for excessive run ins with the law is over the top. Like he said; playing in the NFL is a privelage, not a right.
May 2, 200719 yr Bills claimed DT Manuel Wright off waivers from the Dolphins. http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/p...ILL&id=3156
