Stadium Theory

Featured Replies

THis is my plan. After the season, the following entities ought to sit down around a table:

1) City of Miami; 2) Metro-Dade COunty; 3) Wayne HyPinga; 4) Marlins; and 5" UM.

THey should decide early on that it is incredibly STUPID for the City of Miami to spend 100 million dollars to renovate the ORange Bowl. After spending that money, you will still have to wait two hours to pee. THey should decide to tear it down and use the 100 million towards a baseball only stadium at the Orange Bowl site.

Everyone twists HYPinga's arm so that he gives the Marlins a break on the lease until the new stadium is done and everyone twists UM's arm to agree to play UM football in Pee Pee Park. UM can sell luxury boxes there and the UM fans in Broward County happy.

Everyone is satisfied -- HYPINGA loses one tenant but gains another. UM is happy cuz they have a nice place with luxury boxes to sell. Marlins are happy cuz they get 100 million from the city to build a baseball only facility in Miami.

Tell me where my thinking is wrong??? :mischief2

UM playing in Pro Player seems impossible.

Sorry, I don't see that happening. :(

Why does UM like the Orange Bowl so much? I realize the OB is closer to Coral Gables than PPS is, but PPS is far nicer a stadium than the OB. I've been to football games at both facilities, and I was much more impressed with PPS. The Orange Bowl game itself moved to PPS, why can't UM?

Because UM is only college football. I still don't see it going anywhere. IMHO, UM is fine where they are.

I think that PPS will be torn down before the Orange Bowl.

UM and the City of Miami have a long lease at the OB and are commited to renovating it to make it nice and modern. The problem is that this is in Miami and the politicos go nuts. Thankfully now that UM has sole control of the OB renovation project, they will do it right.

PPS is getting old entering it's 16th year in service. It was not built to be as long standing as the OB or Wrigley, but as a structure for 20-30 years, long enough for the Dolphins to pay it off and save enough money for a new stadium.

Pro Player is in top five Best football stadium around the Nation.

in terms of?

Hey, I don't see anything wrong with Pro Player, except the name. They should have left it Joe Robbie Stadium.

No, I was saying that the OB will outlast PPS. Not because there is anything wrong with PPS, but because PPS will soon not be effecient and down it will go. I would like to see the dolphins return to the renovated Orange Bowl someday, but that won't happen with the current owner.

The Orange Bowl is a real stadium, PPS/JRS/Dolphin Stadium is not.

History my man, history! No offense to PP park, but the Orange Bowl is a much better enviroment to watch football games than PPS. The noise and excitement is magnifyed by 10x and so much history has happend at the OB to just let it die.
