Nolasco back to the DL

Featured Replies

I thought something was wrong with Ricky...he just doesnt look like himself.

dont worry guys, the injuries will stop sometime, we'll be alright.

I think obermueller is going back into the rotation so they might add a pitcher just to take the spot up, maybe field?

More and more it becomes apparent the damage Girardi did to this franchise last season.

It's a disgrace, I hope he's happy with himself sitting up in the broadcast booth this season. I doubt another team with a young staff will ever entrust them to him again.

Last year some expressed concern about the numbers of innings some of the rookies were pitching but I don't remember anyone saying Girardi should shut them down while we were in the WC race.

Considering Nolasco was a late addition to the rotation, I don't see how his number of innings could possibly be a problem. Maybe Sanchez, Johnson, or Olsen, but not Nolasco.

Yeah...it's not so much innings pitched, but the innings pitched compared to previous years. You don't want to quickly raise the workload.

The only two pitchers where that happened was Anibal Sanchez (pitched exactly 200 innings combined MLB and AA...never pitched more then 78.2 prior. I'm getting nervous about him after seeing that) and Scott Olsen (187 combined MLB and AAA, highest before was 136.1).

Ricky Nolasco (140 IP) had actually surpassed that twice in the minors (161.2 in AA 2005, and 149 in A+ 2003...though both of those were with the Cubs, pitching killers).

Josh Johnson also pitched nearly the same exact innings in 2005 then he did in 2006 (152 in 2005, 157 in 2006)....though the rain delay....

5/19/07 Placed RHP Ricky Nolasco on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 18, with right elbow inflammation. Selected the contract of RHP Justin Miller from Triple-A Albuquerque. Transferred RHP Jose Garcia to 60-day disabled list.

It's not just about majors...Anibal pitched 85.2 innings prior to getting called up.

Nolasco started 5 more games and pitched 25 more innings than Anibal in the bigs last year so I am not quite sure what you are talking about Sirspud.

It's not innings in the bigs, its innings total. It doesn't matter if you are pitching in A ball or the majors, it's still going to put the same strain on your arm.

Oh come on. You are actually attempting to bring common sense into a Girardi bashing post??? Let the finger pointers whine. It's entertainment.

Has it been noted here that another alumni from last season appears to be Jose Garcia who I read this morning had Tommy John two weeks ago? Haven't been around much, I guess I missed this.

Least surprising thing this season after Anibal going on the DL. His velocity has been down for a while now.

No, it just wasn't reported on by the papers 'til today.
