May 28, 200719 yr I think the series is just a reminder of what we should really expect from this team this year. We can't yet hang with the top dogs.

You forget we took two out of three in NewYork earlier in the month. We aren't playing well right now, guys are pressing, in slumps, it happens. I don't know that we'd have swept the DRays if the series was this weekend.
May 28, 200719 yr I hope everyone who has been talking up Olsen's fiery attitude liked today's game, because this is what comes with it. He had a lead, some things went wrong (fielding, dink and dunk hits), and everything went down hill. Kranitz had to come calm him down on the mound then again once in the dugout. The maturity for Olsen is just not there- he has to be able to overcome adversity, and he gets so down that everything started to pile on. His body language was terrible the last few innings, and how do you think his teammates take that? I don't mind a fiery pitcher (though I'd rather have an even-keel Tom Glavine or Greg Maddux any day...semed to work for them), but one who can overcome adversity and not get down on himself so visibly when things go wrong. Great post. His last few starts he did control his emotions and did a fine job. What you are saying is exactly, almost word for word, as what I have been saying all year, and last year. This kid has the stuff to be a great one. Just focus on the next pitch. He starting to get that, he just isn't there all the time. We are still watching this kid grow up.
May 28, 200719 yr Looks as if I picked a good weekend to head out of town and miss the game results. Sounds like a bit of a disappointing series on all fronts. Hopefully we can get back on track with a struggling Cubs team this week.

I don't see the Olsen maturation that so many talk about. Mature pitchers don't throw temper tantrums when hitters step out. Yesterday he turned his back on Miguel when Miguel was walking towards him trying to tell him something. Later on when Kranitz came to to talk to him he didn't have the common courtesy to face Kranitz. He was looking everywhere except at Kranitz. It gave the impression he didn't care about anything Kranitz had to say.
