Posted June 3, 200717 yr The Reds top prospect, and one of the top pitching prospects in baseball, will make his debut and start either Friday or Saturday vs. the Indians. I can't wait. :notworthy

June 3, 200717 yr Oh man. Awesome. I can't wait. Didn't you get to see him in Sarasota? Yeah, always loved watching him pitch. Actually got to be around him a little bit when I interned with the team last year, always was a nice guy. Drove a pickup and wore cowboy boots and jeans, the type of guy that didn't seem to let his status get to his head. I hope he tears it up in the Show.
June 3, 200717 yr He's on teh fantasy team ftw. You giving me the idea to pick him up, FTW. You, FTMFW I drafted him and have kept him stashed on the roster since then, just waiting for him to get the callup. He's gonna be a good one.
June 3, 200717 yr Author Is he up to stay? Yeah, The last thing WK wants is for him to have to go back to AAA. The moto always has always been, when he gets up here, keep him up here.
June 4, 200717 yr Aaron Harang, Bronson Arroyo, Homer Bailey, Kyle Loshe...whos the 5th starter, Matt Belisle?
June 4, 200717 yr Author Aaron Harang, Bronson Arroyo, Homer Bailey, Kyle Loshe...whos the 5th starter, Matt Belisle? I'd say Belisle is the 4 and Loshe is the 5.
June 4, 200717 yr Does Bailey have a pitch besides a fastball? I wasn't exactly impressed with his pitching last summer in Pittsburgh at the Futures Game.
June 4, 200717 yr Author Does Bailey have a pitch besides a fastball? I wasn't exactly impressed with his pitching last summer in Pittsburgh at the Futures Game. He had a blister on his pitching hand which caused him to just go with all heat. He has a 4 seamer, 2 seamer, curveball, and changeup.

I was under the impression that he projected more as a closer in the majors. The Reds can sure use him, although at least they have Harang and Arroyo.
June 4, 200717 yr Both times I saw him pitch he was absolutely nasty and it was, like Junior said, more than a fastball. In the FSL All Star Game he struck out the side on about 11 pitches. I think Kevin Slowey (Twins) struck out the side on 9 pitches (pretty impressive). In Jville obviously I got to see a lot more pitches and he was just sick most of the time, the curve was constantly freezing batters and they couldnt catch the fastball. He was fun to watch and I look forward to seeing him in the Majors.
June 4, 200717 yr Kinda OT, but I'm lovin' the avatar, Junior. Speaking of studs. He threw an absolute gem tonight. Was up in the mid-90's into the latter half of his outing, really explosive. Definitely one of my favorite prospects
June 4, 200717 yr I have a feeling he's gonna get rocked in his first start but it won't stop him from being a great pitcher.

Definitely one of my favorite prospects If he wasn't 5-11, he'd be talked about about as much as Bailey. I'm envious you get to see these guys pitch all the time. He held his own against AAA competition last week. 5 IP, 2 ER, 6 K, 0 BB. I was impressed. I think that gave him an extra boost tonight with his 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 10 K preformance. He was definatley on his game tonight. I really like both Homer and Johnny.
June 5, 200717 yr Author http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/news/articl...sp&c_id=cin ST. LOUIS -- It's official. Homer Bailey will make his Major League debut this week for the Reds. However, instead of pitching on Saturday as was anticipated, Bailey will start Friday's series opener against the Indians at Great American Ball Park. Matt Belisle, who started on Sunday in Colorado, will be moved back one day and start on Saturday vs. Cleveland. Bailey, the Reds' 21-year-old top prospect, is 6-1 with a 2.31 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 10 starts this season for Triple-A Louisville. In his previous start on Saturday, the right-hander allowed four earned runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings with eight strikeouts in a 7-5 win at Durham. Since Cincinnati made Bailey the seventh overall pick in the 2004 First-Year Player Draft, he has been the club's most anticipated prospect in years. In each of the last three seasons, he has been rated by Baseball America as the top prospect in the organization. He was also winner of the 2006 Sheldon "Chief" Bender Award as the Reds' Minor League Player of the Year. Bailey will be assigned uniform No. 34 and a corresponding roster move to make room for him will likely be announced on Friday. The Reds said tickets are still available for all three games of the weekend series. Mark Sheldon Go Homer!
