Scott Olsen, LHP (6-6, 4.93) @ Greg Maddux, RHP (7-4, 3.66)

Scouting Report:

Marlins: Olsen showed some brilliance in his last outing when he struck out the Pirates' first five batters, setting a club record. He also showed some inconsistency. He carried an 8-2 lead into the seventh inning but allowed the first three runners to reach base before being replaced. But Olsen's overall trend has been up, despite a 6-6 record and 4.93 ERA. The Marlins have won four times in his last five starts, and he has shown some evidence of returning to last season's form.

Padres: Maddux allowed one run over seven innings -- his longest outing since May 14 -- to lead the Padres to a 4-2 victory over Giants in his last start. The long outing was important, considering the Padres' weary bullpen entered the game having shouldered at least three innings in six of its last eight games. In short, the Padres needed Maddux to go long, and the veteran delivered. Maddux, who walked one and struck out four, only gave up a second-inning home run to Pedro Feliz.

Next 5 Games:

kind of sad that we only got 1 across with our 3-4-5 hitters and no outs

I bet if we batted around and got 6 runs, you'd still manage to find something negative in it, since you seem oh so good at pointing out the negatives in every situation.

your right...great job to the marlins

cleanup guys and only getting 1 run across.

woo-hoo thats a playoff team

In a game where failure is so inherent (i.e. A guy who is batting .300 doesn't get a hit 70% of the time), someone as negative as you is always gonna be able to wallow in it.
