August 22, 200718 yr It kinda saddens me the sorry state that our owners let this team get into, especially when we've got two rings. I remember 1997, and I can relive Game 7 because it's on Baseball's Best. And I really took part in 2003, having gone to two of the games (Game 4 NLDS, Game 5 NLCS), and watching the World Series closely that year. Why is it we can only do it right every six years? Can't we put it together and form a dynasty? The Marlins don't deserve it. We need to give Billy his smile back. at that last part
August 22, 200718 yr My first Marlin game that I went to was game 6 of the 97 World Series (omg get out of here, bandwagoner!). It's such a shame they didn't win it all that night. Instead I had to watch it on TV.
August 22, 200718 yr Could be worse: Could be a fan of the cubs, indians, or San Francisco Giants....remember: the Giants have NEVER won a World Series, since they moved to San Fran back in 54...
August 22, 200718 yr Author When ESPN ranked the first 100 years of the World Series (1993-2002), they ranked 1997 #33. (Yeah, there weren't 100 World Series... they ranked the 1904 and 1994 non-years as #99 and #100, respectively, with 1919 as #98).
August 22, 200718 yr 1997 has special meaning for me. A buddy of mine and I split a ST package that year. When it came to game 6 & 7, we had a coin flip to see who went. I won the flip & chose G6 (who wouldn't, right?). Thus, I too watched G7 on TV - damn!

The Giants can't be blamed on long periods of mediocrity. The Giants have been in the World Series three times and won seven divisions since moving to SF (we know that first-hand). The Indians have had good amounts of success, including two World Series appearances, since the Major League movies (we know that first-hand, too). The Cubs... well, they're cursed (we even know that first-hand). The Marlins can actually point to hard proof of blatantly negligent ownership. H. Wayne Huizenga (fire sale), John Henry (lying about profitability, then buying the Red Sox) and Jeffrey Loria (second fire sale, threats to move). PS: The Giants moved for the 1958 season. 54 was the last time they won the World Series, in Manhattan.
August 22, 200718 yr I remember during game 6 my cousin and I put a crucifix on top of a marlins hat. Funny how people become all religeous during sporting events.
August 22, 200718 yr You know, not too long ago, I was watching a segment on Baseball Tonight on "Memorable Game Six Moments of the World Series" and Beckett's shutout was not even mentioned! But, then again, who is surprised? Those tools on ESPN are morons. Especially that fat f***er John Kruk. My first Marlins game was back in 95 or 96. They were playing the Giants. Bonds was about 150 pounds or so. He really hit the gym this this past decade, eh? As for glorious Marlins moments, I was there for Game 3 and 4 of the NLDS in 2003. The Giants went ahead, and half of the stadium emptied out. Then, Pudge came up and we had that little rally. That was awesome. We need more moments like that.

I was at Game 4, and it was hoppin' all night long. It would have been a rout if D-Train didn't leg out that triple.
August 23, 200718 yr Just remember, the TV Show SeaQuest DSV predicted the Marlins will win in 2010
October 6, 200718 yr Author Google SeaQuest Marlins and see what comes up :thumbup If only they knew... Doesn't say which episode mentions it though.
