September 5, 200718 yr if you didn't see the end of today's braves vs. phillies game, the phillies were up 8-2 in the eighth inning, just beating up on the braves all game long, and should have scored more with our sloppy play. i'm thinking phillies are going to win this one easy, right? wrong. here's the bottom of the eighth summary. - T. Gordon relieved G. Geary - C. Jones doubled to deep right - M. Teixeira flied out to right - B. McCann singled to right center, C. Jones to third - J. Francoeur singled to right, C. Jones scored, B. McCann to second - S. Thorman hit for J. Ascanio - C. Woodward ran for B. McCann - S. Thorman singled to left, C. Woodward to third, J. Francoeur to second - C. Ruiz catching - B. Myers relieved T. Gordon - C. Woodward scored, J. Francoeur to third, S. Thorman to second on wild pitch - Y. Escobar walked - M. Diaz singled to shortstop, J. Francoeur scored, S. Thorman to third, Y. Escobar to second - W. Harris walked, S. Thorman scored, Y. Escobar to third, M. Diaz to second - K. Johnson fouled out to third - C. Jones flied out to left center 4 runs, 5 hits, 0 errors Philadelphia 8, Atlanta 6 that's the eighth where we score 4 runs, philies don't score their half of the ninth, myers comes back in for the bottom of the ninth to finish the save. he gets teixeira and pena out easy for two outs and the bases empty. easy win for the phils right? wrong again. francoeur singles to left, prado gets on base, putting runners on the corners, then escobar walks to load the bases. everyone's favorite brave on these forums matt diaz is up, and he demoralizes the phillies with a bases clearing double to win the game, 9-8 for the braves, again proving the phillies cannot finish the job in september.
September 5, 200718 yr that was not the bullpen's fault (technically yes) but the amount of bloops, and infield singles and other BS hits were absurd they got unlucky

Myers couldnt throw strikes plain and simple. Yes there were bloops and bleeps and what not but he couldnt put it in the zone. Then again, I did sample a few of the local draft beers so my judgment could have been clouded. :mischief What a meltdown and what a game!
