"Tom has not had enough time to sufficiently think things through with his family and did not want to make a decision until he the opportunity with them to reflect on his future in baseball as well as his future with the Mets," said agent Gregg Clifton. October 7, 200717 yr I was surprised by this move, I doubt he would ever get from anyone else what he was suppose to get on his option year, therefore I believe he may very well be contemplating retirement unless the perfect offer comes up for him
