Glavine declines option w/ Mets

Featured Replies

Tom Glavine declined his $13 million player option to remain with the Mets in 2008.

Glavine gets $3 million automatically, so it was a $10 million decision for him. "Tom has not had enough time to sufficiently think things through with his family and did not want to make a decision until he the opportunity with them to reflect on his future in baseball as well as his future with the Mets," said agent Gregg Clifton. Glavine indicated that he's a month away from making a decision on his future. Oct. 5 - 6:04 pm et

Maddux is a free agent too, right?

It'd be fun to see them reunite somewhere.

Yeah, Maddux is a F.A as well. Imagine them two with Smoltz in Atlanta again.

Probably wouldn't be the same as the '90s..

Yeah, but wouldn't it be a great way for them all to retire? Together in Atlanta.

Maybe win the division again?

Seriously, I think Maddux is finished, but I also think Glavine might come back next year.

I was surprised by this move, I doubt he would ever get from anyone else what he was suppose to get on his option year, therefore I believe he may very well be contemplating retirement unless the perfect offer comes up for him
