Tom Glavine declined his $13 million player option to remain with the Mets in 2008.

Glavine gets $3 million automatically, so it was a $10 million decision for him. "Tom has not had enough time to sufficiently think things through with his family and did not want to make a decision until he the opportunity with them to reflect on his future in baseball as well as his future with the Mets," said agent Gregg Clifton. Seriously, I think Maddux is finished, but I also think Glavine might come back next year.

I was surprised by this move, I doubt he would ever get from anyone else what he was suppose to get on his option year, therefore I believe he may very well be contemplating retirement unless the perfect offer comes up for him
