October 23, 200718 yr woah 10 years already...damn love that lineup....and Robbie Nen closing things out..i miss those days Robb Nen sucked. You always wondered whether he was going to close it out or blow it. Though I agree, that lineup was scary. :mis2 what closer, in marlin history, can we not say that about? Bryan Harvey
October 23, 200718 yr Trevor Hoffman was never our closer. He was only here for half of his rookie season, and wasn't our closer per se. He only had 3 SVO, and converted two of them. BTW: On this day 10 years ago (10/23), the Marlins beat the Indians in Cleveland, 8-7, on a very cold night (the previous night was the coldest WS game ever played, 38?F at gametime with a 15?F wind chill--it was 46? tonight) to take a 3-2 series lead back to Miami. Livan and Co. tried to cough it up in the 9th, but Robb Nen stopped the bleeding and willed the team to victory. Moises Alou hit a three-run homer in the 6th. Sandy Alomar, Jr., had one for the Tribe.

Brian Harvey, Trevor Hoffman (albeit brief), Armando Benitez (in '05), Ugey, would you like me to continue? Trevor Hoffman was never our closer. Here worked a game in '93 before being traded. Still counts. No, it really doesn't. And do you know why? Because he wasn't our closer and your argument is about... closers. He wasn't even here for a full three months. No, that is not my argument but I guess since you realized how dead wrong you are you want to change the subject. The point I was/am trying to make is we had closers who came in and shut down teams consistently. Robb Nen was NEVER one of them. By the way, you save a game you're a closer. You may not be the permanent closer but you are A closer. Remember a closer is one who closes games it is not an annointed title to one individual; it is to the one who closes the game. Hence the phrase, "_____ closed it out." (So it does count.) In the future do your HW before you make a stupid comment like us not having closer who could close out games night-in and night-out. :mischief

The argument wasn't about closers...nothing there to show that. And if you want to look up what a closer is, you'll see "a relief pitcher who specializes in saving games". Not a guy who saves one game. Lee Gardner is was not our closer his season because he got a save. Joba wasn't the closer of the of the New York Yankees because he got one save. A closer IS an anointed position. And when there is not an closer, teams have what is called a "closer by committee". Lucky for me, we didn't have one here with Hoffman, so you can continue being wrong. Welcome to baseball. Look around, read, learn something. And as far as Trevor being a closer, Brian Harvey got 22 saves in the time that Hoffman was here. Trevor got 3. Your right, Trevor was the closer. Do you even watch baseball?? Please don't quote thing that contradict your argument, makes it too easy to make you look dumb.

First, you make an assinine comment that we never had a closer (guess you must've had the hots for Robb Nen). Then you give me some definition you probably picked from the Internet to make yourself look proud. Well here's a definition for you and I'll even give you the citation (New Webster's Dictionary) a noun. a person or thing that closes. You see, very simple, just like it is very simple how wrong you are and have been. You obviously don't know ball from bat especially if you go off and say, in essence, all our closers have been inconsistent. What's worse is instead of admitting you were wrong and we have had quality closers you continually wish to try to make yourself look right by changing the subject and digging yourself a deeper whole. Maybe you haven't been watching this team since its inception. Don't know. But what I do know is the one who will look clueless is you everytime you make a comment. My suggestions quit. (Notice I didn't quit while you're ahead because you don't seem to know where ahead is right now.) Based on these comments its clear you won't admit your wrong but will continue to just shoot off hot air. Oh well, I know as far as I'm concerned I'm right (by the way others on this string have also agreed with me) and this situation is closed. In future, please just do your HW. :thumbup

I love how you're complete lack of attention to detail leads to you saying rediculous stuff. Is it my fault that you think a guy who saves one game is a closer? Nope, it's your fault that you have a complete lack of baseball understanding. Is it my fault that you don't know the difference between "MoveFishToOrlando" and "Rabbethan"? Nope, it's your fault that you have a complete lack of word understanding. I was just stating that Trevor Hoffman wasn't a closer down here. Which he wasn't. I mean, if I knew that I was going to find the one guy who didn't grasp the concept of what a closer on a baseball team was, I would have let you stay ignorant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closer_(baseball) - Learn yourself something.

October 25, 200718 yr i was sick that week when their won series it round my birthday i was sad i could not go to proplayer for party that miami gave marlins i still remember when Liv?n Hern?ndez sayed I LOVE YOU MIAMI!!!!!!!!! I didn't go to the parades but I did go to the party at the stadium. Later bought the cd of the song Gloria Estefan wrote and sang at that celebration. Play it every year for the first home ST game. Gets the juices flowing. Don't know about other counties but here in PBC every where you looked shops were opening up in strip malls just to carry the WS paraphenalia. Must have all taken out 1 month leases or something. There were the standard road side stands but I had never seen anything like the one month stores. That was something that didn't happen in 2003.
October 25, 200718 yr please go to www.wqaq.com TODAY from 4-6pm Eastern to listen to my radio show...we will talk about the marlins 1997 WS championships
