February 24, 200818 yr I was sitting at my computer with the radio on, tuned into a local country radio station, and the dj started talking about the Florida Marlins in between songs. I ran over to my stereo and turned up the volume, to hear him snickering about the Manatees auditions being held today!
February 24, 200818 yr Yep. We also made Digg.com. It's sad. I hope nobody showed up. Well, it is the Marlins we're talking about.
February 25, 200818 yr If I would've known about this in November I would have spent the winter stuffing my face with enough burritos and milkshakes to qualify for this elite team.
February 25, 200818 yr This has generated more buzz than anything the Marlins have done in a while - I actually think this was a very good marketing move.
February 25, 200818 yr This story is now on the front page of Yahoo.com. Again, while I understand this is all in good fun, it is absolutely pathetic that this is the type of publicity we are associating with our team in the shadows of a stadium deal being announced. Based on the media attention the PR department is probably already high fiving each other over this idea. I think I'm going to be sick.
February 25, 200818 yr It's different and it's funny. And that sells. No biggie. What is a biggie is front page pix across the country of opening pitch with about 400 people in attendance. Always near the bottom of the pile when it comes to average attendance is a biggie. And yet folks want to get all huffy and superior-like and complain about a spoof routine that will last a couple minutes per game. Get over yourselves.
February 25, 200818 yr Coming from the person who has elitist views against non-season ticket holders... Some of us view the face of the franchise beyond ticket sales and attendance, which now certainly won't be a factor after the next couple of years.

Some of us view the face of the franchise beyond ticket sales and attendance, which now certainly won't be a factor after the next couple of years. Don't have elitist views against non-season ticket holders. I have low opinions of those that live close, don't go to the games, and complain about everything. The franchise IS ticket sales and attendance.
February 25, 200818 yr Did anyone see this on sports show last night? They also had a segment about how tall the marlins starters are, and how short, bald, and fat the bullpen is. They even went to mention that the rotation can even be a basketball team. Cody Ross went on to say "Who's a bad team in the NBA? I'm sure we can take them". The reporter mentioned the Heat were a bad team. To end the segment, the reporter spoke to Dwayne Wade about it. Wade went ahead and stated that "the Marlins should stick to their thing", "the Marlins should do their thing, let us do ours. If they run up and down the court a couple times, that would stop."
