MLB.tv in Tallahassee.

Featured Replies

I am thinking of getting MLB.tv next month so I can watch the Marlins when I am back in Tally. Sucks that we dont get the Marlins on Sunshine Network blah. Since Tallahassee is in "Marlins territory" I wondered this... the last game of the season I borrowed somebody elses MLB.tv password and it worked. I have both wireless (I borrow my neighbors) and Broadband (is that what its called? ). I am not sure why it worked but if it worked last year could it still work this year? I want to make sure if I buy MLB.tv I am able to get live Marlins games.

You can't see them with MLB.tv up here in Tally, Sorry Holly. :(

I suggest you get a Slingbox to hook up back home.

Here's what I plan to do:

I watch 95 games on FSN Florida (Comcast Channel 29/HD Channel 401) and will get the other 55 games from home via my Slingbox Solo. The other 12 or so radio-only games will be via XM.

The nice thing is that the Slingbox has no monthly costs and the cost of the box, cable back home, and internet connection back home are all you need.

Is MLB.tv good though? I live in PA now and want to watch. Time Warner here sucks BTW.

I had it last year and really liked it.

If you live outside of Florida, it will deliver all the Marlins you can handle. The quality is surprisingly good and the feeds are reliable.

You live in Erie, Pennsylvania. That means games involving the Cleveland Indians (STO/WKYC) & Pittsburgh Pirates (FSN Pittsburgh) should be available on local outlets and MLB.tv would be blacked out for games involving those teams.

On Time Warner Cable - City of Erie:

SportsTime Ohio is Channel 23 & HD Channel 523

FSN Pittsburgh is Channel 24

WKYC games air on WSEE, which is Ch. 5, or WICU, which is Ch. 12.

So if the Marlins are playing the Pirates or Indians on any of those channels, you will have to watch there instead of on MLB.tv. But I think you will be fine with that. :D

Did you get the 89.95 or the 119.95?

I did the 14.95 per month

I can't decide which one I should get. You can watch any game at anytime right.

Yeah, except those in your blackout area. If you are in Erie, you wouldn't be able to watch any games that have the Phils or Pirates live, but would be able to watch them on replay.

I have the 19.95 per month, it's awesome. I use it to follow my Stros, or to rewatch Marlins games.

Everything Rabbethan said is OK except what I changed. Phils wouldn't be an issue since he lives in the Cleveland/Pittsburgh territory. Phils would not be blacked out, so he can watch the Fish play the Phils on MLB.tv. ;)

I don't think there will be a blackout for Philly games. Erie is on the West side of PA and they don't play Phils games here. Glad to hear you like the 19.95. I am probably going to do that for the better video quality.

Plus I will be attending at least one the the fish games in Pitt so no prob.

I used MLB.tv the last day of the season last year and it worked. Is there a reason for that?

1. Pure luck

2. MLB wanted to be nice

If you can get it to work, more power to you....but MLB.tv has always blacked the Fish out for me in Tally when I have tried to watch.

Comcast sometimes forgets to take MLB Extra Innings off free preview so anyone with a Digital Box (free as long as you go pick it up from Comcast on Hartsfield Road) can watch, but the Marlins and Rays are always blacked out on that.

Ah, looked at the map incorrectly. Thanks for the correction.

there used to be a couple ways around the blackout problem when I had mlb.tv back in 2006.
