March 17, 200818 yr Anyone know what's up with him? I wanted to see how he was doing in ST but then realized he had no stats...isn't even on OAK's 40 man roster. He doesn't have a player page on minorleaguebaseball.com either. He has 7 years of service time in the minors so he'd be a minor league FA if not on the 40 man roster no? But I haven't seen any transactions for him. Well maybe he just didn't file for free agency. But if that was the case he should still atleast appear at minorleaguebaseball no? So yeah what's up?
March 17, 200818 yr Abducted by aliens perhaps because otherwise he does appear to have disappeared. He's not on either the A's invited or non-roster invitee lists nor is he on the River Cats roster either. I do think I remember him having back troubles last summer, maybe he retired.
March 17, 200818 yr The last i saw of Stokes was on the list of Minor leagues F/As http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/?p=644 There are no News of him ever hooking up with any team
March 17, 200818 yr Author by the way, upon googling info for stokes, I came across this thread here. Jason Stokes rated the #3rd first baseman prospect in baseball. Heep-seop Choi rated 4th. Adrian Gonzalez rated 6th. Just kinda hehe, I certainly don't blame the ratings considering their respected 2002 stats.

Right now it is difficult to remember he was the 2002 minor league player of the year

If I recall correctly, he was considered the second-best overall prospect in the game, behind only Mark Texiera.
March 19, 200818 yr Remembering debates of who would be our future 1B between Stokes and Gonzalez... That's what stinks... Stokes was THAT good.
