April 6, 200818 yr Good to see at least for today, Hermida is able to master A level pitching. I was getting worried there for a minute considering he had gone 1 - 7 before today's start. St, Lucie used four pitchers today. Their ERAs 12.00, 9.00, 4.50, 10.80. I wouldn't draw too much of a conclusion from his performance today.
April 6, 200818 yr When Hermida does come back I'm just as interested in his defense as his offense. He's shown us in the second half of last season that he can potentially fulfill his offensive potential, should he stay healthy. But his defense I hope improves this year, markedly, from the blooper reel that he was last year. What a pleasure it's been to see Brett Carroll play good defense in RF. It would be a lot easier to wait for Hermeda to consistently hit well if his defense was at least average. Maybe he'll improve defensively like Willingham, who's gone from blooper to one of our top defensive players. I doubt it though.

Think the biggest thing with him is confidence in those legs. Once he has that I would think we will see the defensive player he is capable of being. I think stat wise Hammer was our best defensive player last year. And did anyone notice that strike he threw to Hoover on Sunday?? That 3B coach and runner never even thought of testing him. Good thing for them.
April 7, 200818 yr McPherson hit his 3rd HR in three days as well yesterday... very nice! :thumbup Looking really good so far.
