pb1300
Power Rankings Are the others in our division so far superior to our Marlins??? 26 out of 30 is a little harsh I think. Sure we are flawed, but so is every other team in the division. Until we start playing the "big boys" in our division and start losing to them consistantly, I wont rule this young, talented Marlin team out. But then again, I like no one giving us a chance, its sooooo 2003ish.
Marlins97+03WC
We've picked on the Pirates and Nationals and looked bad vs the Mets. We need to beat the Phillies, Mets, and Braves to be successfull...imo
catchoftheday
I think they should be in the top 5 oh yeah maybe top

wanks1212
Getting worked up over power rankings is a constructive use of one's time.
Tee Ball Bunt Machine
What can you say? And what can we really expect? Again, I know it's painfully early in the season but you would think if they're gonna bother doing this it ought to reflect what's actually happening. I guess I must say I'm a little surprised that even the 1-win dead-last in the MLs Tigers are rated ahead of us as division leaders, but it is nothing new. I do realize that we need to play more teams in our division, but honestly, what more can you do than lead the division? We won the series we should win against the lesser teams, and that's what a good team obviously needs to do. We had pitching issues vs a good Mets offense, and still didn't get swept. Putting wins in the bank for later though shouldn't be minimized. We've won the games we should have mostly. I also think its funny that the commentary on the Marlins there begins with "as expected"...is that really how anyone feels about the start to this season? IrishHarrington
power rankings are meaningless
Tee Ball Bunt Machine
Aye, but also pointless when they are so detached from reality that the 1-8 Tigers are ranked as the #18 team of 30 ML teams.
LordMagnus
Well, the Marlins pitching staff isn't that good. Hitting has mostly won these games so far.
Tee Ball Bunt Machine
Well, the Marlins pitching staff isn't that good. Hitting has mostly won these games so far. The relief pitchers have pitched very good and only two SP have really pitched bad, and one was sent down. Look at Hendrickson & Olsen's last 2 starts - niether allowed more than 4 runs. The pitching hasn't been nearly as bad overall as I think many of us expected (at least I know I expected worse).
LordMagnus
No, but there's a lot of questions in the pitching staff. Gregg is also struggling as the closer.
fishfan97
I have learned to tune ESPN for everything baseball, I just watch it for the highlights and fantasy baseball. From Rob Dibble to Karl Ravech (the biggest deushbag on the face of the earth) most of them do not know what they are talking about, they just hire random former major leaguers, Candy Maldonado, come on. The Marlins are definetely better than #26 right now.
Tee Ball Bunt Machine
No, but there's a lot of questions in the pitching staff. Gregg is also struggling as the closer. No. He isn't lights out, and he certainly got a lot of help from Hammer last night, but if you want to put it in perspective just think back to this time last year with Jorge Julio. Gregg is fine, hasn't blown a save yet, and what else do you really need from a closer?

Gregg is fine, hasn't blown a save yet, and what else do you really need from a closer? Not blowing a save was nothing he did himself. But I suppose the same could be said about every pitcher on every team. Defence is crucial. I have been saying since watching him in ST that he just dosen't look all that great this year. He hasn't impressed during the regular season either. I'm actually uncomfortable watching him take the mound in a close game. If I had to bet right now I would say he dosen't finish half the season as our closer.
