October 27, 200323 yr Pierre - CF Castillo - 2B Pudge - C Cabrera - RF Palmeiro - 1B Lowell - 3B Conine - LF Renteria - SS SP -? Beckett , Colon, Burnett , Willis , Penny Bullpen - Pavano , Urbina , Looper , Helling , Bump , Fox , Redman , Tejera PH - Harris , Castro , H'Worth , Mordi Wow, considering you just won a world title, I would expect a lot more optimism than that. I mean after all, that lineup would barely put the club at a 150 million dollar payroll. :cool I'm not a marlins fan no s*** sherlock Which is why I used quotes to address Magglio, Watson
October 27, 200323 yr I want Uggy gone. I think he isn't worth the money. We need to get a big time closer. Uggy has not proven to be effective for us as we had hoped. We all wanted a shutdown, good night closer and he didn't do that. He is also too moody. Kieth Foulke or Robb Nen anyone? AJ Burnett anyone? dont even joke Until he gets his endurance back, of course.
October 27, 200323 yr Urbina had all those stats, but he didn't command all the time and got heated up at the umpires. He wasn't shutting people down. I can only remember one time he didn't deliver. Against the Phillies, he gave up a 2 out 2 strike HR to Placido Polanco. We still won, though, thanks to our best friend, Mr. Mike Williams. He could trade Snow, go after Lee and use Nen to get Lee. I WOULD agree with that, except Pacific Bell is one of the few ballaparks that he can't hit 40 HR's in. He'd put up around the same number as he does at Pro Player.

We all wanted a shutdown, good night closer and he didn't do that. He is also too moody. Kieth Foulke or Robb Nen anyone? I really believe that the Giants are going to deal Nen. Sabean is not in a good mood and is rebuilding somewhat. Nen will be leverage for him to get a right fielder possibly or first basemen. He could trade Snow, go after Lee and use Nen to get Lee. Snow could be going to a certain NY team :whistle isnt Nen a free agent? edit: he is a potential free agent, if he wants he can terminate his deal, if not, he will still be a Giant Nen, coming off injury, won't terminate the deal because he won't get anywhere near as much on any other team. the Giants will trade him. Sabean is not happy: Cruz Jr., Snow and Nen will go. Cruz, Jr. has already been let go.

October 27, 200323 yr Wildcard, The Giants want his glove. JT really never had a big bat, but he had the golden glove. Lee is also a better athelete and is a local who will resign for cheaper than the local Snow.
October 27, 200323 yr AJ Burnett anyone? Actually, that wouldn't be a bad idea. But like you said, only until he got his endurance back.

October 27, 200323 yr You trade DLee, people will moan. You trade DLee for Rob Nen and then use the money to sign everyone else back and a certain RF, then everyone will love you. Vlad solves all problems.
October 27, 200323 yr AJ could be the closer for the first half. He could be the next Smolts or Gagne, the problem is the marlins may leave him there which something I dont want to happen
October 27, 200323 yr AJ Burnett anyone? Actually, that wouldn't be a bad idea. But like you said, only until he got his endurance back. agreed, but if he does well in that role, and the rotation does well then why not keep him there? the closer is very important and this rotation has shown they can do it without him there.
October 27, 200323 yr AJ Burnett anyone? Actually, that wouldn't be a bad idea. But like you said, only until he got his endurance back. Yes, it is. Because what do you do... A) when he's ready to start and we don't have a closer? B) if he comes out of the blocks and is awesome as a closer? It'd be awfully hard to justify changing him and I'd rather he start.
October 27, 200323 yr ugh. i hate this idea WHY? We need a TRUE closer. Not some fill-in, soon-to-be starter. If closer is so important, let's take it seriously and not as a rehab spot.
October 27, 200323 yr You trade DLee, people will moan. You trade DLee for Rob Nen and then use the money to sign everyone else back and a certain RF, then everyone will love you. Vlad solves all problems. stop dreaming. Vlad will demand around 15 million. We dont even want to pay anyone 10 million now 15 million. Unless of Course Loria uses some of that "Special money for Special players"
October 27, 200323 yr agreed, but if he does well in that role, and the rotation does well then why not keep him there? the closer is very important and this rotation has shown they can do it without him there. I agree. I mean, if the rotation succeeds without him, and he succeeds in that role, why change what works? Burnett has the stuff of a dominant closer. High-speed fastball, great curve. And he can get the fastball up to 99 MPH very early in the game.

Unless of Course Loria uses some of that "Special money for Special players" He pulled it for Ugy and Conine, did he not? Hes got a stash and if the politicians get their asses in gear we might get what we want after all. We need 7,500-10,000 season ticket holders. We do this, Vlad plays right. Done.
October 27, 200323 yr ugh. i hate this idea WHY? We need a TRUE closer. Not some fill-in, soon-to-be starter. If closer is so important, let's take it seriously and not as a rehab spot. We'll still have loop and Fox, maybe even the forgotten Spooneybarger
October 27, 200323 yr Unless all 5 of our guys are flat-out dominant, on pace to win 20 games type guys, then you HAVE to put Burnett in the rotation, because he's definitely one of those type of guys. I'm sorry, but if we have Mark Redman in the rotation and Burnett closing, we're stupid. You don't put a guy like Burnett in at closer. He's an ace level guy. Burnett should start the season in the pen to get back into form, but NOT closing.
October 27, 200323 yr B) if he comes out of the blocks and is awesome as a closer? It'd be awfully hard to justify changing him and I'd rather he start. So you'd be mad if he turned into a dominant closer!?

And he can get the fastball up to 99 MPH very early in the game. And late. Don't forget something AJ was the guy that hit 97-98 in the ninth. If anything Brad Penny (pre-World Serious) would be the better closer because of his curve, change, and 98 MPH fastball in the early innings. But you can't exactly say that anymore because he has learned to have endurance and to pitch instead of throw.
