And the John Smoltz comparison sucks, Smoltz wasn't in his mid-20's when he became the closer.

Lets also remember that AJ when healthy could throw a shutout any day. So he is more valuable as a starter. I rather not see him close, he too valuable as a starter and if he closes he may stay there for good.

Pavano in the bullpen could also help. Spooney is not on Beinfest's good side esp. after he said the Cubs/Take Me Out To the Ballgame thing. Spring Training is when roles get assigned, not the fall.

Why would you send the pitchers off to pitch another 50+ innings!? I don't want to see Josh Beckett with his right arm missing in spring training.

I agree but Almanza is injured so he only will be rehabing this winter, and Nunez is gone. Wayne and others should also be sent too
