May 27, 200818 yr Hey all, first post here, and instead of making a crappy intro post I figured I'd make one that anyone could participate in. So, I started following the team in 1996, and we got to the World Series the next year... but the funny thing was, that team never really produced up to expectations, EXCEPT winning the WS itself. Sheff had a really bad year... Al Leiter was way off. Alex Fernandez was just ok, although he turned it up a notch when it counted. Bobby Bo probably produced less than they expected of him, and Moises had a good year but his power numbers dropped off. I mean, that team on paper probably should've won 100 games... but they won the ones that counted, so I still love'em. On the other hand, the 2003 team was the perfect storm of everything from career years, to guys coming back from injuries, to perfect trades, to you name it! A.J going down with injury and you had guys like Carl Pavano stepping up... Mikey Lowell goes down, and we trade for Jeff Conine, and he goes on to torch the Phills... Close games all throughout the playoffs, right up to Josh Beckett in game 6 in New York. Overall, I have to go with the 2003 team... even though technically a lot of the best players on that team were received in trades tearing apart the 1997 one, they were still homegrown for the most part, and I had time to get to love a lot of them. The 1997 team was fun, and I'll bet if they kept it together, could've challenged the Yankees dynasty in the late '90's, but I never had the time to fall in love with them the same as the 2003 guys. Also didn't see how, so can a mod please add a poll option to this?
May 27, 200818 yr The 2003 Marlins such as Castillo, Ivan, Beckett, Pierre, AGon, Dontrelle, Conine, Cabrera...they all feel like the quintessential Marlin, whereas the 97 team...I love em, but I just don't think people identify MARLIN right away when they think of guys Bobby Bonilla, Kevin Brown, Al Leiter, Moises Alou..I don't know. Both teams were special, but I'll take the 2003 team.
May 28, 200818 yr 2003, the whole postseason could not have been better. The fish crushing the hearts 3 teams I HATE. the only way it could have been better is if threw in the Mets aswell. Loved it, everyone counted us out. I loved the 8th inning rally at Wrigley too! Just awesome!
May 28, 200818 yr 2003, talk of lost in the moment, Marlins overcome the Cubbies to capture the series in comeback fasion the night of my sisters wedding, something I will never forget.
May 28, 200818 yr Does anyone remember in 2003 when Josh knocked down(?) Sammy Sosa with a pitch and then walked about halfway to the plate to get the ball back from Pudge. My family and I were on vacation in Colorado watching the game in our hotel room. From that point on my mom was a Beckett fan.

May 28, 200818 yr This has got me in the mood to watch both 97 and 03 world series dvds where can you get those? i am seriously looking for the full games of both series Well I don't have the full games. I have the dvd that MLB put out for the 03 world series that is like an in depth video/commentary summary of it, and I have the VHS that MLB put out for the 97 series, and the dvd that Metro PCS sponsored of the 97 world series that they gave away last year at a game.
