June 17, 200818 yr And I agree, but Willie was not faultless as some people are making him out to be. He was a mediocre manager who couldn't turn things around last year when they soured. This year is not his fault IMO, it can be laid on Omar. Like I said, there won't be any change with the team's performance until Omar is gone.

Last year he blew Wagner out during the summer and he had nothing left for those crucial last few weeks. He runs bad relievers (like Mota in 2006) into the ground and lifts good ones because he has some sick obsession with lefty righty (Smith and Feliciano). He also runs Reyes and Wright into the ground, refusing to sit them (David Wright has played every inning of every game this year, even though the team has had multiple double headers). He shoved veterans into the line-up even when they're injured (Castillo earlier in the season) or playing like sh*t and undermining him in the clubhouse (Delgado). He can't even make a double siwtch properly because he's only ever coached in the AL before this. He was just completely overwhelmed. Of course the players are to blame, but you can't fire them. The Manager is always the first to go when a team struggles, Omar's next.

Managers make mistakes with relievers...you just only notice it with the Mets b/c that's the team you watch EVERY NIGHT. Really though...it's as you said yourself...you can't fire 25 players, so you gotta fire the manager. Btw, sorry, if I sounded rude, but I post on the ESPN Board, and I just here these things from Mets fans there, as well.
